I had heard about these types of stoves in the past and was super excited to try this one. It did not disappoint. The way it is designed makes it easy to keep the fire burning and directs the heat where it needs to go. It is super efficient and I can use different materials to burn. We used it for camping with the solar eclipse, it was easy to set up, portable and easy to put away. Everything is contained well in it. We used coal, pine cones, wood all did good. I was curious if it would have any issues with the fire coming out the bottom but thankfully there were no problems. Very happy with this cool stove. ... show more

This cooking stove is such a life saver when you’re trying to have a relaxing camping trip with the fam! It’s actually fairly compact, so it’s easy to pack and clean, and my favorite part about it is that you don’t have to use wood for fuel because it has a propane tank attachment. That’s honestly the way I first used it because my campsite didn’t allow for ember fires, but it worked amazingly and I was able to cool all my meals in it for 3 days without any issues! I’m never going camping without my rocket stove again! I would highly recommend this to anyone planning on going camping or even to have as an emergency backup cooking option. ... show more

This stove is far better made than what I was expecting. It feels very solid and substantial, and is no lightweight, coming in right at 13 lbs. Is it built to last forever? No, but I would be very surprised if you didn't get at least a decade or so of regular use out of it. Everything feels very well put together and the welds are nicely finished. As you would expect from a rocket stove, this thing burns super efficiently, getting blazing hot with minimal material. The greatly reduced smoke is quite a nice bonus as well. The door in front allows you to easily feed material in, and the tray removes the majority of ash (although not quite all). While the stove is a bit on the heavy side, it is still very portable. The included gloves are a nice touch, but I'm opting for a pair I already have that are a bit thicker. To be honest, I'm going to do my best to completely avoid moving this while hot as much as possible anyway. There is no question that having this on a backcountry outing would be a huge advantage. It burns nearly anything you could find in that situation cleanly and efficiently. I personally ordered it for post hurricane power outages, when it can be hard to find safe ways to cook. In the meantime, we've used it for the occasional backyard get together, basically as a fire pit. It's fantastic for that as well. This thing is amazing and I have it in my camper. I have a stove in my camper, but this is great for when we want to cook outside and don't have a fire pit. It's so easy to use, it's powerful, and it is so easy to clean up and put back in the camper. The top of it allows you to very easily put a cast iron skillet so you can cook up some good grub. Don't put a top on it and it's perfect for sitting around for smores! The way it is built is perfect. It draws heat upward bringing in air from the bottom which feeds the fire. You can really get cooking with this thing! I just chop up a bunch of small blocks of wood and pack it in the truck when we go camping so we can make great use of this stove.
