  • 5.0 out of 5 stars High Quality and Lifetime Warranty
Style: Hori Knife
It's all the features I wanted in a hori hori, plus an extra one I didn't know I wanted; the forked tip is handy for prying sturdy roots loose, and is durable enough that I'm not concerned it will weaken the tip. I was looking at similarly priced traditional ones, but they all had reviews stating that the blade would break in half at the handle when used for digging. Sturdy traditional hori hori can cost over $100, so I decided I'd give this Fiskars version a try since I've always been happy with their other lawncare tools and utility scissors. The stainless steel blade is permanently moulded into the plastic handle, and by using a magnet it seems that the tang extends just past 3/4 of the way down (stops at the orange part). The included sheath holds the tool securely and the clip is wide enough to grab onto large utility belts. It's quite stiff, so you'll need to wear it on a spot that's out of the way of your legs when walking. There are drainage holes at the bottom, so it's quite easy to hose clean (though I ways wipe the blade clean on my pant leg before sheathing). I've never had any Fiskars plastic become brittle or crack, even when carelessly left outside for years, so I expect this sheath will be no different. I've so far used it for digging planting holes, aerating the soil around a root base, digging up weeds, cutting dried up flower stalks, and removing sod that had encroached into a planter bed. It performed to my expectations in all tasks. I'm very happy with the build quality and don't anticipate it will sustain damage anytime soon, but if it ever does Fiskars has a very generous warranty. It's a bit goofy looking, and not everyone likes the orange/black Fiskars colors (though I appreciate the high contrast / visibility when I absent-mindedly set it down on the green or brown ground) but this is most likely the best value hori horinyou can buy. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Works well but block sizes and shapes are not optimal
Style: Soil Block Maker
It seems to be well made and it is easy to use. But, if you make the single large block it is really too big for most plants. The block is tall and cone shaped which is not very efficient in terms of soil use or space. If you use the insert, you get 4 small blocks, but they are almost too small, and again the shape is not very efficient. If you just want to try soil blocking it is low cost tool and works OK for a small number of blocks. If you think are going to do a lot of soil blocking seed starting, I would suggest the more standard square blocks. In my experience a 1.5 or 2 inch version is good for general garden use. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Great Harvest Knife
Style: Folding Harvesting Knife
It's got a comfortable handle and I really like the button lock mechanism instead of a liner lock or no lock at all. The knife is very sharp, took tomatoes off the vine with almost no effort to cut. I usually buy Fiskars brand for garden tools and this is why; for $11 its got to be pretty hard to beat. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing design
Style: Harvest Basket
I was not expecting something as perfect as this. It's deep enough to hold a lot. Has holes so I can clean produce outside or inside easily. The handles snap in place without that "two curves meet" issue. Love the colors. This is a MUST HAVE for any small farmstead.

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Beefy knife, wimpy holster
Style: Hori Knife
Glad someone told me about this knife. Recently used it to remove baler twine from a tractor tiller, the prongs and serrated edge are a good combo. You find all kinds of uses for this big thing besides deep tap root weeds. Holster broke (thin plastic torqued at belt line) so Iโ€™ll probably drill and zip tie and duct tape it back together if I canโ€™t get a replacement. Very useful. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect or seed starting and more
Style: Trowel
I'm not usually a "name brand" person but Fiskars always sells a lovely product. This tool is nice for when you are working on small plants and starts as well as growing plants in containers. I'm always adding things to the container, such as marigold and basil to my tomatoes for pest control. It fits nicely in your hands (I have fairly large hands) but the kids can also use it with no problem. The price is also quite nice. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect size
Style: Harvest Basket
When my garden harvest started to get bigger than I could carry in one hand, this was my first choice for a hod. Love the compartments - I can carry my tools to and from the garden and keep them separate from the veggies.
