Description

The FireStik II FS Series Antennas feature upper coil extension to increase the power handling capability of the antenna. The "FS" antennas are 100 percent American made with 100 percent American materials. To maintain a balance between flexibility and ruggedness we use a custom blended glass fiber reinforced shaft. Each is wound with heavy insulated copper wire to prevent the oxidation and shorted windings often found on non-FireStik antennas. The tunable tip mechanism is made from rust-proof brass and has a rubber O-ring to hold the adjuster in place after tuning. Our 3/8"-24 threaded base has a tapered contact point that works especially well with FireStik mounts and accessories. The tapered "lug-nut" effect transfers stress away from the threads and reduces the possibility of vibration induced loosening of the antenna in its mount. Each antenna is covered with a static reducing, water- tight sleeve containing UV and pigment stabilizers. Like all CB antennas, the FS antennas should be fine-tuned (SWR) in their final mounting location.

  • Thick-n-sturdy. I recommend mount with a spring
Good, affordable antenna that is easy to tune once you remember to re-cap the tip before checking the meter (I didn't realize that a little cap could affect the SWR that much😅) SWR Curve: Ch 1 -> 20 -> 40 | 1.5 -> 0.1 -> 1.2 (I said 0.1 but idk exactly, it was basically at 0, to the point that youd have to be up close to really see the needle on the meter move. Id say thats pretty darn good for my first tune) ... show more

  • Had to ground it to the mount but it works well!
I ended up needing to ground it to the fender mount I got for it. Initially thought I wouldn't have to since the mount was already bolted to a steel fender, but the antenna didn't work until I made a short grounding strap and grounded it to the mount. Shoulda done that to begin with lol. But it works great now! ... show more

  • Good antenna
Good antenna, easy to install, gets about 3 mile range, looks good on the car.

  • Great antenna, there's a reason why it's popular
When I was in the market for a CB antenna for my truck, I talked to a few off-roaders I know, and they all recommended to go with Firestik. After looking at what they offered, I went with the popular Firestik II. I chose the 2-foot length because I was mounting in a custom installation and I was okay with sacrificing a little bit of range for a more stealth look. The antenna is excellent quality; the threaded stud mated smoothly to the mount, and the tunable tip was easy to work with when it came down to tuning my SWR. Once tuned I now have excellent, clear signals coming in on all channels. I only have two small issues with the Firestik II: 1. I did notice that the Firestik II was a little heavier than other CB antennas, which made me have to modify my original plan for the antenna mount I was fabricating; and 2. It comes with a bright red antenna cap. I had to buy the black cap separately, I did not want to have this bright red cap drawing attention to itself. ... show more

  • Works great, easy to tune.
Well made design. Setting SWR was easy. Works great. Using it with a OLD President Grant that's been tweeted a tad and I'm tickled pink. Would highly recommend. If you are new to the radio world, this antenna will make life easier. 1 word of advice. Use good copper, solid center with copper shielding. Make sure you have good ground to vehicle, don't be afraid to go to battery - terminal. Every lil detail makes a ton of difference. Hope this helps. ... show more

  • Good 2' antenna.
It's a 2' tunable Firestick. What more is there to say? It works as good as a 2' antenna can on 11 meters and I can get pretty decent TX and RX, respectively speaking. This is mounted on the fender of my '13 JKU Rubi with a spring and with a quick tune, I got 1.5-ish on CH20 so I'm okay with it. Wind resistance is low enough to not cause any sway but you can hear the wind noise when driving highway speeds but then it's about 4' from the drivers position. The 3' Firestik was about 1/2" too tall for me to get in my garage so this makes a nice compromise between talking and parking plus it just looks good IMO; not too short and not too tall. I have several Firestick II's from 2' to 4' and they all work very well, better the longer they get of course. I was going to tune the 3' Firestick II and toss in in the back of the Jeep to swap out on road trips but in all honesty the 2' works well enough I don't worry about it. It can easily keep up with road traffic and I've verified a strong TX signal on another mibile at 2.5 miles. Oddly enough, I've heard light radio traffic break through at about 15 or so miles but I'm sure that was a 'big' radio. Seems to work well with my Midland 75-822. ... show more

  • Top load antennas are the best for most applications.
I've owned many Firestiks and Firestik II over the years, most of them 4' and one 5' and one 3'. I've always stayed away from the short antennas because I was always looking at maximum range potential. Now on my Jeep I was looking at clearance issues and wanted an antenna at or below roof line which really puts an antenna at a disadvantage. However, the top load coil design of the Firestik shines through by getting the transmitting portion above the interference. Originally, I had a taller antenna on a taller spare tire mount, which is now becoming my beach flag holder. There were always clearance issues in the forest with tree limbs. In addition to a CB I also run a dual band HAM radio so I needed to fit antennas into a compact space. I was able to lower the antenna and wedge it into a location that no antenna should have to be in but it works. Just for fun I tried to an old base load A/S, centerloaded (generic) and a Francis 4.5' whip in the new location and none were adequately tunable. The Firestik was very tunable and tuned right in at the new location even though there were obstructive metal objects near the base. Yes, because it is a short antenna the SWR curve is pronounced and no, I am not shooting skip from Washington state to North Carolina. But on the trail it does everything I need to to do. It transmits and receives well and stays out of the way of tree limbs. ... show more
