2M15-B - Firestik 15" 2 Meter (144-148MHz) Heavy Duty Antenna 1/4 Wave (Black) with tunable tip.The "2M15" series, 2 meter amateur antennas are little quarter wave wonders. Made of top quality materials, Firestik's proven antenna knowledge and their tunable tip design, Firestik built a pair of dependable antennas you can count on for your day to day communications.The 2M15-B is 100% American made with 100% American materials. The core material is solid 3/8" (9.5cm) fiber-rich, custom blended, fiberglass. Each is hand wound with double insulated 19 gauge copper wire. The 3/8"-24 threaded base will fit all common mounts and accessories. Both antennas are covered with a static reducing, water-tight sleeve containing UV and pigment stabilizers. A vinyl cap is provided to protect the tuning mechanism from the elements.Like all transmitting antennas, these antennas work best when mounted over sufficient ground plane. The versitility of the tuning screw design offers a wide tuning range. The lowest frequency is achieved by having the tuning screw in its highest lockable position and the vinyl cap installed. Likewise, the highest frequency of the antenna can be found with both the vinyl cap and tuning mechanism removed. The 2M15-B should be selected when the user has no need for the added protection from a spring.

This antenna works really well for me mounted to the drivers fender on my pickup truck. This antenna based upon my surrounding terrain is performing better than my 5/8 wave antenna for repeater coverage in western NY. It tuned up flat across the entire 2-meter band. It appears to be ruggedly built and well made. It comes with a 5 year warranty that I doubt I'll need. I ordered in black so that it does not draw much attention to itself. ... show more

Installed this antenna onto a Relentless Fabrication hood mount on a Toyota Tacoma. The antenna tuned easily, getting 1.4:1 or less across 2meter band. Some test QSOs to various repeaters in the area gave full or near full quieting. I wanted a short antenna like this so I could get into the garage and not whack every low hanging limb in the county. I was running a Wilson mag-mount on the roof and that antenna hit everything! I've always enjoyed great success using Firestik CB antennas and this is my first 2meter. Kenwood TM-281a + this antenna. Removed tuning tip to get best SWR: 1.0 @ 142mHz increasing slowly to 1.6 @148mHz. Awesome value. Durable. All 3 of my antennas recently installed were Firestick. I like them all.

I actually prefer their 4' 2 meter version, better, but, size-wise, the 15" model does an amazingly good job for T/R 2 meter use.
