We got the 12000 BTU unit because our bedroom stays so hot in the summer. Our bedroom is the furthest room from the air conditioner. Its 16' x 13', 208 sq/ft. This unit cools the room down to 67 F with no problem. My wife and I sleep so much better. We turn it on about 2 hours before we go to bed and it lowers the temp 10 degrees with no problem. The first 5 nights or so we let the drain hose drain into a bucket. We live in central South Carolina, so it's pretty humid. We did have to put the unit on a small table in order to get it to drain. After the 5 nights, we didn't have to empty it for over 2 weeks. I feel the unit has been well worth the purchase and recommend it. Something that would be a good upgrade would be a valve on the drain. Currently, there is only a conical plug. I had planned on running the drain outside with the vent hose, but the hose isn't long enough. I cut a small piece off the end and went to my local hardware store to get a longer hose. The manual for the air conditioner said the hose was15 mm, so I got 5/8" hose but it was still too small. By not having go empty the bucket so much it's not that big a deal right now. We have been going through summer without proper air conditioning for my sons room. We decided to get him a portable air conditioner unit this year. Upon looking around, we noticed that many units are quite expensive. In addition to it being so expensive, many of the reviews were not so great. I was looking for a unit that is compact, quiet, and easy to install. After searching for a while, I was able to narrow down my choices to a few, but decided to give this unit a try. My sons room is a challenge because the suns direction hits his room in the late afternoon. His room is not well insulated so the heat penetrates easily and the heat stays trapped. Especially on hotter days, it can get close to 100 degrees if not higher. The unit arrived very quickly. The packaging was very secure and tight upon arrival. Everything inside the box was sectioned and cushioned as necessary. The instruction is very easy to follow, and even without it, it’s pretty much plug and play, because every part had its place. The install was very easy and did not take much time at all to set up. I really liked the current room temperature that displays on the unit before the unit gets turned on. Once hooked up and turned on, it didn’t take long for the room to start cooling down. My son felt the difference within five minutes of the units being turned on. The only issue that I have with this air conditioning unit is the fact that the air output slots is not motorized. It would be much better if the air output had a motor to sway back and forth. Motorized fan can help circulate the air better. It did take some adjusting to get the air to go in the direction that my son wanted it to go. The remote control helps a lot so he can turn down the intensity if it got too cold. This unit is quieter and more compact than the one we have in the living room. The record setting, highest temperature week of summer is NOT when you want your central air to quit working, but isn't that how it goes? I ordered the FIOGOHUMI 10000BTU Portable Air Conditioner and it was delivered the next day. Thank you AMAZON!! I don't consider myself to be a super handy person, but the set up of this unit was simple enough for me to follow the instructions and set up. The only thing I struggled a bit with, was that the plastic window "block" to keep the outside out and the inside in, was the wrong size for my windows. If I extended it, it was way too long, but if I matched it to my window size, half the hole was covered by the other piece of the block. I have a 100 year old home, but the windows are average sized. I saw that other folks ran into this issue and either ordered a new block plate or got creative. I got creative. I used it at it's short length assembly which left a 4-5 inch gap. I used the styrofoam from the packaging and cut a piece to block that gap. Hey! Maybe I am handy after all! The unit runs well, cools my bedroom easily and isn't terribly loud. I do appreciate white noise, so having a loud-ish fan is actually soothing to sleep to. The remote control is great so I can change the temp or turn it on/off during the night instead of getting out of bed to do it. Even though my central AC has been repaired, I continue to use this portable AC on hot days. I often run it for a half hour or so before I go to bed which gives me a nice chilly room to go to sleep in. ... show more

I dont really do reviews but if this helps someone I can say long term I have not had this a/c unit to to give a opinion how long it will hold up but I will say so far it's been doing a great job what I do like is once you set the temp it will run until it get there then it kicks off and the fan just runs automatically and in some cases when it gets to cold the unit will automatically switch off and back on as needed.. it does had a built in drip cup but so when full the unit shuts off 3 weeks of use I have yet to drain it... the remote is pretty good.. so far been very pleased how this unit has performed... I have had no issues so far... cooling a room 11ft by 8ft .... update the ac compressor has become noisy and the unit dont seem to be as quiet as it was when I first got it.. the fan is quite but when the ac kicks on definitely louder then it was a few weeks ago... see if it holds up of brakes down over time ... show more
