After many pairs of dynamic headphones the FT7 is my first venture into planar magnetics. Given all of the good reviews, I had to try them. Overall i'm very impressed. Very high build quality. Rich high end looks. Comfortable enough to wear for long 2+ hour listening sessions. Easy to drive. Not taking any more juice than my Focal Clear MG's. Being my first planar type headphones I only had reviews to give me a sense of what to expect. I'm using a Gold Note HP-10 amp 10 watts class A with available Harmon Curve, Crossfeed and adjustable Damping Factor. I only have a few hours on them so far, but after listening to them flat, where they do sound impressive. Neutral midrange. Light airy highs and tight dynamic bass. I then added the Harmon Curve and Crossfeed which for me makes a subtle but noticeable improvement creating a more natural soundstage. Those things made an already great sounding headphone even better. The highs remained clean and airy. Vocals both male and female were fleshed out a little more. The bass was emphasized more. Not boomy or bloated. It just has a little more authority. $700 is a serious investment in a pair of headphones, but if you can swing it and you haven't experienced a planar magnetic yet, check these out.

I have owned $4k+ headphones like the Audeze LCD-4 and LCD-5, $2k+ headphones like the ZMF Verites opened and closed, and other more affordable headphones like the Audeze LCD-XC and various versions of the LCD-X plus the Sennheiser HD800s, HD650, and HD600. Round that out with having owned the Focal Elex and having heard the Focal Utopia, and I’d say I have heard those great headphones and then some… I said all that to say, the Fiio FT7’s are maybe the most “right” headphones I have heard to date and a top contender for my favorite. They have the most wonderful, vast and 3 dimensional soundstage, they make all music sound good to my ear, the bass is pretty articulate and specifically placed exactly “wherever it is coming from” instead of being one nebulous boom everywhere, and they just have a pleasing blend of warmth and technicality. I agree with those that say they sound smooth (even with leather pads), so while they have punch, you can find punchier headphones, but they just feel to me to be the overall best compromise of detail, soundstage, imaging and utmost pleasing “musicality” that I have ever maybe heard. Also, the fabric pads may make them sound more correct or even, BUT the magic is in the leather pads. They may not always elicit the perfect frequency response, but they have that extra energy and spaciousness I love. Try them out. At 700 bucks, they are the best value proposition I have experienced in Hifi so far, and that includes DACs, turntables, speakers, stereos…any piece of equipment.

I consider my self a decently experienced audiophile and find great passion in audio equipment. These Fiio FT7’s are now the shining star of my audio collection! These are expensive yes, but the value here is not to be understated. Build is firm, accessories are plentiful, and sound is out of this world. I am running them with a Fiio K13 R2R DAC and Running them with Peace’s APO EQ. I decided to stick with the Lambskin Pads because I found them tightening the sub-bass and easing the mid treble. The fabric pads are great too, but for me those ones softened the bass and boosted mid to upper treble around 6khz. The sound right of the box is clear and technical but I found them a little too bright and missing some bass. But after EQ-ing them for an hour or so they deliver Litterly, THE BEST SOUND I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED IN HEADPHONES. And I own many pairs of cans and have listened to multi thousand dollar cans at CAN JAM. TLDR: These leave me speechless.

Really good especially for the price. Highly detailed but with some warmth. Good instrument separation even on prog rock tracks. Will need to listen to some acoustic vocal tracks to make final judgement but I bet they will sign great. One problem is that the cable I’m using does have some microphonic noise but I usually hold my head still so the problem is minor. Great 1st effort by Fosi.

after a few days of listening to these. my only complaint is that the treble is a bit high. I paired these with a Fiio Q15 and the amp will power these. Though they like a bit of power, they will sound great on the middle settings within the Q15 but as soon as you set it to ultra gain they shine. with my small living space they will fill the entire space with music and, with the volume all the way up. you can hear everything throughout the entire space. They are open back so these are not for quiet spaces. bass is a bit lacking but I did not buy them with that in mind. I use them for gaming and they are awesome. I really like them for gaming. Well built and they offer a overall premium experience I feel that they are a solid set of cans for everything. I hear everything. Even after listening to them for gaming they are the most comfortable clear and best set of cans I ever had the privilege of gaming with. I would not return them and I invite you to try them for yourself. With the amp (a Fiio Q15) it is neutral for the most part.

These take alot of driving power, Im curious to try them with my M23 portable but with my Sennheiser HDV820 they drive well. Good overall warm sound to my ears and the second pair of earpads was a nice touch! Great hard shell case also provided that totally protects the phones, cable and all provided accessories but the manual but hey who reads the manual more than once with headphones anyways. I rate these almost as good as Sennheiser 8xx class, if you have the power to drive them. My Sony NW-306A with a 4.4 to 3.5 adapter at 120 max volume with Tidal drives these to a listenable but just too low level to provide another reference. The cord is long and disconnects easily at the headphones with 1/8" jacks-a nice design my me. Get these, I love em and I think a good to great buy at 800$. I think these are my go-to planar now, sound alot like high end Susqvaras without the annoying QA risks of buying a Susq as the Susqs can be awesome or kinda crappy because of odd inconsistent QA issues I've experienced and read. Only bad Fiio experience I've EVER had was a crappy battery in a M15 class player, a known issue but I have many Fiio IEMs and these are much better than anything by my ears but a Senn 8xx class set of cans

Headphone came with a defective 4.4mm balanced plug at the end of the headphone cable - neither adapter that came with the headphone worked as a result. I would expect that FIIO would do a bit better with the headphone at this price

Super great deal! Way better than price point. My vacation home deal that rivals my home Hifiman Arya Organics and HD800S. Comfortable and mates well with Fiio 13R2R. The leather pads sound signature balances well with the DAC/amp analogue like output. Quality build and good accessory set. Great carry case and stock cable. The long length suits my desktop setup. Also sounds great with M11S and easy to drive. Why pay more because the quality and excellent sound are right here!
