  • This is so much easier than a traditional grounding rod.
Size: 3 Foot
As a ham radio operator, I've sunk my share of grounding rods over the years. Typically you have a 9' long copper clad rod and spend the better part of a day digging and hammering. In the end, I almost always end up bending the upper part of the rod over and burying the last couple of feet that way. This kit comes with three 3' rods, cable clamps, and a good amount of grounding wire (sorry, I never measured the full length, but there was more than double what I needed.) My typical rocky New England soil makes any ground spike difficult to install. Unfortunately, this kit did not come with any instructions, so I'll provide some here. You still need to dig a hole. I dug mine roughly a foot wide, two feet long and a foot deep. In that hole I turned on the hose until I had a nice puddle. I've found that this helps to get ground spikes started. While you have a puddle (and refill as needed) start hammering the rods in using a small sledge. My favorite for this is a 3lb hammer as it is easier to wield. Keep hammering until you get the tops of the rods below the ground. Don't be surprised if you need to try several times as you hit rocks and such. You might also need to hammer at an angle due to ledge. Be warned, pulling out a spike that is pounded deep is not easy. You might find you need to just bend it over - if so, dig the hole to bend it into and go for it. To attach the clamps, you might find you need to file or grind off the top of the rid a little due to deforming by the hammer. Once all the spikes are below grade (one way or another) run the ground wire from each. The wire goes in the clamp opposite from the screw. I like to wrap the wire several times around the clamp. To do that you need to start with the rod closest to the building and do each one at a time making sure to leave plenty of slack to reach and wrap the other rods. Once you have the rods wired, run the wire to the building and up to grounding block. Bury everything the best you can. ideally you should not see anything until the wire comes up near the building to the grounding block. This kit provides an easy way to get a full 9 feet of rod in the ground with minimal effort. The supplied parts are of good quality and should do the job for years to come. I would not use this as a primary ground for a building's electrical system, but for added antennas, it is a very good solution to a very difficult problem. ... show more

  • Very solid ground rods.

  • A decent, temporary grounding setup
Size: 3 Foot
This works okay as a temporary solution. I setup a 30' x 30' 2" ribbon electric fence in a pasture to keep cows out of a specific project area. The soil is sandy loam and good grounding is difficult. Due to the soil grounding issues, I set a top "wire" as hot and a second "wire" 12" lower as a ground back to the 2 joule charger instead of running all hot "wires". Then I installed this grounding system as prescribed to the charger to help with the ground issues, but only had the three rods ~ 12" into the ground as this was a temporary setup. I received a good jolt jolt several times through my thin leather gloves while working the fencing and only touching the top wire. Game camera footage shows the cows learning quickly to not touch the fencing :-) ... show more

  • Missing/broken parts
Size: 3 Foot
Everything showed up in a timely manner. When I went to install this I found that one ground clamp was broken and another was missing the bolt for it, the third was fine. The rods are 3 foot and easy to drive into the ground. If you’re careful then the wire won’t get tangled up as you undo it. Contacted the seller and left a voicemail on their machine, got a call a day later and they are sending me replacement parts. Replacement parts came and they were in good working order, I was able to use them without a problem to secure the wire to the rod. ... show more

  • Disappointed
Size: 3 Foot
I was disappointed that the wire was not in a nicely wrapped circle as it is pictured. Other wise it works as expected.

  • Seems like good kit until I see the quality control.
Size: 3 Foot
Clamps look good, grounding wire looks good, rods? Not so much. I don't care too much about the length differences but the rod ends were definitely half a** sharpened and manufactured. Maybe I'm being too much of a critic but I definitely would not sell this type of quality to any customer.

  • Does the job
Size: 3 Foot
Funny, the instructions that came with the kit recommend 6 ft. grounding rods but I installed this kit and it seems to be working fine.
