I went from the old school traditional shop vacs to cordless vacs from Bosch and Milwaukee... then bought this. A bit pricey, yes, but now I use it all the time, and I don't know what I'd do without it. I use at/in clients' homes, and I use it in my little shop when I'm building stuff there. I don't use the 120-volt plug as all my tools are cordless, but I do use the Bluetooth control, and I love it. My track saw batteries trigger it automatically, and I bought the Bluetooth button that straps to the house, which is great for other tools like my Milwaukee miter saw, Bosch sander, etc. Can't wait to buy another for permanent use in my shop.     • The better option for dust collection
I considered heavily the Milwaukee dust collector as well, but for the space and use I need, I went with this one. I upgraded to this over the cheaper festool even because for me, the upgraded hose and Bluetooth were the major selling points. I run a lot of battery tools (including my tablesaw) so getting the Bluetooth button (sold separately) was the money move for me. I like being able to leave this thing behind my table saw cart so my miter saw can stay plugged into it and I don’t have to walk around my table saw cart and outfeed table to turn it on for my TS. If you run corded tools, or don’t care about the anti static hose which doesn’t grab the end of a workstation with aggression of an offensive linemen trying to protect his quarterback, then the cheaper festool is a great choice, especially for the price. ... show more

Awesome vacuum, has a locking clean tech hose that has good 3d printing support so I'm able to make perfect adapters for all my tools. Auto start feature is fantastic, and the power chords being co-located with the excellent hose is 10/10

    • Functionality and how well it eliminates dust. It is an amazing dust extractor.
I bought one along with a sander as my first Festool tools. The shop comforts of this machine and ergonomics of the sander along with a dust free sanding environment got me to understand the value these tools offer and ended up buying a second midi.
