  • It converted me
I used to be one of those Festool haters. Been a wood worker for about 25 years and used traditional tools and was offended by the cost of Festool tools. I’m in the middle of moving and had to put my table saw in storage but needed to do a project so opted to buy my first track saw. Couldn’t resist the idea of a second scoring blade in a track saw so I ordered it. I’ve spent around $100 for a fine tooth sheet good blade on my table saw and find this saw preforms much better. Its well designed and thoughtful /usefull technology. With the scoring blad and the zero clearance of the track it’s the best clean edge I’ve ever made with no tear out. I’m cross cutting white oak plywood with impeccable results. Take the time to watch some tutorials and dial in the scoring blade. It converted me. The only con I’ve seen so far ( and this is probably true of all track saws) is the saw can lean left/right slightly due to a little flex in the system creating a less than square cut if your technique is not dialed in. For 3/4 sheet goods this is not a huge issue if you are aware of it but if your stock gets thicker you really have to be aware of this flex and keep it at 90 degrees to the surface. My table saw is still in storage for a few more months, so I’m having to use this saw more than I might choose to, but I am very impressed and would recommend the purchase. Once I get my table saw back the combo of using both will be amazing. ... show more

  • One of many plunge track saws out there with that European flavor...
I am a professional mechanical engineer and an inventor. I think I have a decent grasp on functionality and ergonomics. Generally, I am not very fond of German engineering. I find their approach overly complicated and in perpetual search of complicating things even more. Just because "we can". Now to this saw. I have not tried any other plunge / track saw. I needed one for a particular task and decided to go all the way. Yes, a "diamond" (I am sure it is a tungsten carbide PVD-diamond-coated) single-tooth scoring climb-cut blade. A unique feature in a portable tool. Something I haven't had a chance to try out yet, two+months into the ownership. I will update my review once that functionality has been explored. Other than that, all good, so far. The included printed manual is black-and-white and tiny, was not even protected by a plastic bag, arrived creased. Downloaded a pdf, printed large. The manual is cryptic, poorly translated into American English. Really poorly. Proceeded to register the product at the FESTOOL site. A typical cryptic tech site designed by people who didn't even bother to learn the common for North America ways of phrasing things. I feel as though FESTOOL makes no effort to connect with their customers on this side of the Atlantic. Really bad as a corporate attitude. ... show more
