Achieve splinter free cuts on both sides of the blade by using the off-cut side splinter guard in conjunction with the integrated guide rail splinter guard. For best results, replace Splinter guard when switching between different kerf blades. Splinter guards attach easily to the TS 55 REQ. Includes 5 Splinter guards and 1 replacement thumbscrew. This product is not compatible with the TS 55 EQ or TS 75 EQ, see product 491473.

I feel a little resentful that the Festool track saw product is designed with the need for these consumables when Festool's usual advantage is superior design to reduce excessive excessive tool management on the worksite. I get that this product is a consumable and for those of us more experienced in using the tracksaws we get how it is also possible to reduce the need to replace these guards if you keep one for each depth of cut you make - but as soon as you change your depth of cut and forget to change the guard that's it!! Whammo!! that will cost you another splinter guard. Dammit! My home made zero clearance for my cordless circular saw was designed to eliminate the need for a consumable like this, and it is made of plywood and cheap screws - so Festool has no excuse for this one folks - they need to spend a little more on R&D to solve this problem. Still, the product is 100% suited for the task and is perfectly capable of performing its function very well - nice clean cuts over and overe while the darned thing lasts.     • A must have if you cut different thicknes sheet goods with your TS55REQ
These work with the newer Festool TS55REQ track saw and are sacrificial in the sense that once cut they are sort of calibrated for the thickness of the sheet goods or wood they were used to cut. The idea of buying a set (or 2) of 5 of these (one comes with the saw) is that you can use one - mark it with a felt-tipped indelible pen for the wood thickness it was used to cut - and then set it aside for future use. I have quite a few of these so-marked. At $4 a piece ($20 for 5) - I think they are a bit overpriced - hence the 4 stars ... show more
