  • 2 batteries, quality build spreader
Summer is around the corner and i self seed and fertilize my backyard thus had to get this tool for getting work done in a speedy manner, I used this cordless handheld spreader for lawn care and it's made spreading seed and fertilizer much easier compared to manual crank spreaders. The unit feels lightweight but still solid, and the ergonomic handle makes it comfortable to hold while walking around the yard. Since it's battery powered, there's no constant cranking, which really helps reduce fatigue when covering larger areas. The adjustable settings are useful for controlling how much material is spread and how wide the coverage is, so it's easy to switch between grass seed, fertilizer, or even salt. The hopper holds a decent amount, which means fewer refills during a job. I also like that it comes with two rechargeable batteries so you can keep working without waiting for a recharge. Overall it's a convenient and efficient tool that helps make lawn maintenance quicker and more consistent. Battery life is decent and comes with a backup battery so one can easily get the job done ... its quality and value for money!! My first item came cracked, that was easily replaced, a bit inconvenient but I am happy, ... show more

  • Works pretty well and is fairly priced
Introduction: I have a handheld broadcast spreader but it's tiring to use because it must be held with a single extended forearm while turning a crank with the other hand. To mitigate fatigue, the hopper is small to reduce weight that implies it requires frequent refilling. I like broadcast spreaders over wheeled drop spreaders because it's easy to reach into tight areas. Consequently, I ordered the TOSOENPHY spreader that holds more material, is balanced with one hand, and frees up my other hand since I don't have to turn a crank. Summary: It's nice that two batteries are provided but each battery lasts more than an hour. A full charge takes 5 hours (the ad says "fast") but who cares since each battery can do an entire job. The workings are pretty standard and the spreader works with most any granular material: seed, fertilizer, salt, and etc. An impellor rakes material towards a trapdoor which then drops to hit a rotating wheel with vanes that ejects it thru a variable width window. The trapdoor is uncovered to a width that is set by a control knob. At the smallest setting, the trapdoor is 0.25x1.25" and the largest is 0.5x1.25". You'll have to decide if your material works with that range of opening. A larger opening dispenses larger material and more of it. Sometimes my fertilizer is clumpy which clogs the trapdoor. In those cases, I have to break up the clumps before placing it in the hopper. A second knob sets the speed of the wheel that controls how far and how much material is broadcast. The final control is a window lever that directs the material out of the spreader. I used the spreader with some fertilizer and all worked well. I learned from experience with my former spreader to thoroughly clean the hopper and mechanism when finished to keep it working for years to come. The user manual suggests a damp cloth and avoid water getting inside it. I use compressed air that does a good job and is quick and easy. I like this spreader and it is more comfortable and easier to use than my manual one. There are several alternatives on Amazon that work basically the same. Some don't include batteries but still cost about the same. I think this spreader works fine and sells for a fair price. Details: The user manual is well written and worth reading. The Amazon listing states the motor is brushless. It is not. It's a standard brushed motor but I'll be surprised if it wears out before I do. I had a look inside to learn this and I noticed that the gears are plastic (and lubricated) which is adequate for this application. The motor normally draws 0.2A under light load but when fully loaded, the current goes up to 1A and the motor stops until the load is removed. I like this because it keeps things from breaking should a jam occur. The batteries are advertised as 21V and 2Ah. They are actually 1.3Ah (the batteries are even labeled as such) but even still, each battery should last more than one hour. The charger is rated at 21V and 1A but I measured 22V and 0.25A. There's a red LED on the charger that glows while charging which turns green when complete. Each battery includes a Battery Management System circuit and it ensures the lithium batteries are operating safely. It monitors charge and discharge current, individual cell voltage (there are five cells), and temperature. It is designed and built pretty well so I don't foresee it being a safety hazard. Although, I suggest unplugging the charger when the battery is full. It's always a good idea to charge in an open area and away from flammable material. One thing missing is a low battery indicator... it just stops when it's time to recharge. There's a warning in the manual that machine noise could exceed 84dB. I measured 75 at one meter distance without any material in it. I imagine spreading rock salt would make the most noise. There's another warning about handle vibration but it seems pretty smooth to me. The manual has more warnings which makes me think a lawyer must have written it. I'm deducting one star because TOSOENPHY misrepresented the brushless motor and battery capacity claim, and there is no indication of low battery. ... show more

  • Salted the driveway, porch, and walkway in under 10 minutes.
We recently had a couple of snowstorms followed by ice. The first one we used a cup to spread the salt. That is time consuming and inefficient. I started looking into salt spreaders and came across some handheld battery-operated ones. I saw the hand crank ones and used them before. I didn’t like them because they were difficult to operate. This one has an electric motor powered by battery. I showed it to my husband, and he mentioned he could get a major brand one cheaper. However, he didn’t realize that the one he was looking at did not come with any batteries. This one came with two. So, this was a better deal them the one he found. I got to use it after this last storm and he was thoroughly impressed. The salt shot out 25 feet on high speed. I was able to spread the salt more evenly than with the cup, and much faster. There were multiple spreads and the size of the hole at the bottom is adjustable based on what you’re spreading. This saved us a lot of time. In fact, it took us less than 5 minutes to salt our 100-foot driveway. Another couple of minutes for the parking pad and front porch. We did not operate it long enough to really test how long the battery worked for. The materials seem to be of decent quality. Overall, I am happy with this. So is my husband. ... show more
