So, I am taking a guitar class. My Ovation acoustic is in the shop so I need a tiny portable battery operated amp to be able to take to my group class and still hear my guitar over the others. The sound quality is pretty impressive for the size. Also, this makes for a very nice practice amp. Put the amp on my desk, turn the computer on to some youTube backup tracks and have some fun without blowing the house down. It is a bit of a novelty item. But, practically this does the job. This is a cute lil speaker that does its job excitedly, but unfortunately doesn't sound very good. Perfect for mucking around on the go but nobody will want to hear anything coming out of one of these. I use mine mainly for my Behringer RD-6 since drums sound better through it than anything else, and it does just fine as an on-the-go speaker for me to make beats with. I bought this amplifier for my bass guitar and it sounds incredible. There's a dial for tone which is suuuper crisp and a dial for volume. This is good so I won't wake anyone up when I practice at night.

Standalone, I'd rate it a 3 based on decent volume, but as others pointed out, the drive knob is not very useful as volume must be reduced significantly to avoid screeching when just a little drive is applied. However, it works impressively well with a pedal in between the guitar and amp, where you can add all the "junk" you want (gain, reverb, etc) and get a very impressive sound out of the speaker in terms of both quality and volume. So, 3 as a standalone, 5 with a pedal, 4 overall. I'll keep it since it's a nice little device for the money, but I'll keep looking for something that can give me the distortion I want without a pedal. ... show more

Purchasing this as a gift for my friend I needed something not too expensive but something that could still function and do so well enough so that my friend doesn't resent me. Finding the balance is always hard but I think this product may have done it. With the price being so cheap I was worried that this would be a lightweight, cheaply made amp that couldn't speak for itself, however I was wrong. When the package arrived I realized the box was a lot heavier than I was expecting. Sometimes when holding a product you can tell when it has high quality components inside by weight alone and I was surprised to find that this product is one of those. It is not hard to carry or anything, but it definitely has more to it than I was ready for. The sound quality itself is SUPERB for the price and it helped me convert my friends acoustic guitar to an electric guitar for under $40 total!!! I ordered a product that had the dimensions of 7.48"D x 11.42"W x 3.54"H, but when I got it, it was about half that size. 5” X 5.75”X 2.6”. Yes the description is wrong! But it is super small, portable, and sounds pretty good. It comes with a 9v battery and no power cord though, so buy some extra batteries, you’ll need them. ... show more
