Description

Limited Edition Mustang PJ Electric Bass with Pau Ferro Fingerboard Capri Orange. Since its original release in 1964, the Mustang Bass has been one of Fender’s most enduring bass designs, finding its way into the hands of bassists ranging from The Rolling Stones to My Chemical Romance. This updated version of the short-scale underground hero adds the power of our venerable P Bass and J Bass pickups to the traditional Mustang design for flexible, thunderous bass tone with smooth playing feel and slick visual style. Powered by a time-tested pair of pickups, the Mustang Bass PJ is packed with flexible tone that can match any sonic requirement. A punchy split single-coil P Bass middle pickup is joined by a growling Jazz Bass neck pickup in an unbeatable pairing that combines the best of both sonic worlds. Master volume and tone controls, along with a conventional three-way pickup switch get you to all available sounds. Not only is the 30 in. scale more comfortable for smaller hands, it reduces string tension, creating a looser playing feel that lends itself to nimble playing styles while adding a fat, “blooming” quality to the lower notes and sweetening the higher notes. Topped by a 9.5”-radius rosewood fingerboard with 19 medium jumbo frets, the “C”-shaped maple neck is comfortable for all playing styles. This bass’ smaller body easily fits those with smaller frames while maintaining Fender’s classic stylistic appeal, and is also great for energetic stage performances thanks to its light weight. In a nod to its roots, this modernized instrument includes vintage-style Fender tuning machines and a vintage-style disc string tree, along with a four-bolt neck plate and standard four-saddle bridge—all finished in gleaming chrome. A classic instrument, upgraded with features for the modern bassist, the short- scale Mustang Bass PJ is sure to please with its flexible sound, easy playing feel and slick style. • The bass plays and sounds fantastic. Despite the short scale and small body
Color: Capri Orange
This bass plays and sounds fantastic. Despite the short scale and small body, it has the depth of a P-Bass and the growl of a J. The fit and finish was slightly off (the milling for the pick guard screw holes was a little messy, for example) and it was badly in need of a set up out of the box, but I love this bass. Fender does a much better job with Mexi built models than they used to. ... show more

  • Great Job Fender!!
I've always been a fan of the Mustang series, I already own one and my only concern was the size and power of the pickups, it seemed to lose oomph on the top end, at times you can barely hear notes played on the G string. When this series came out with more and bigger pickups I gave it a try and this model sounds much better. It also has a three way switch which gives me options for which pickup is on, so there's some versatility. I love the feel, it looks great. I got the blue and wish the color were a bit deeper, it gets mistaken for white under some lighting, but it's a minor beef, it's a great bass for money ... show more

  • Lots of booming sound!
Color: Capri Orange
My new guitar arrived on schedule and it has met all of my expectations. I have small hands and the short scale is so much easier to play and it is lighter than a full size bass that I have been playing for several years. I love this bass!!! It has a toggle switch that you can change from one pickup to the other or both pickups for a bigger sound. I recommend this Fender Mustang Bass for anyone who wants the sound of a full size bass without the size and weight. ... show more

  • Couldnt be happier!
Absolutely love it! The size and scale was the reason I decided on purchasing it. I've got arthritis in my hands now and this has made it fun to play bass again. The sound is fantastic and gives me the variety I need. It did need to be setup after I received it. It played okay but now plays fantastic. Great instrument for a great price! ... show more

  • Set the bar higggghhh
Color: Capri Orange
Hey fender Fam, Cyd here. I have had the Capri Orange bass for a hot minute now. I have to say that it has really set my bar high. I bought this sonic blue mustang bass as well. I was telling my partner that I feel like they are built differently. The Capri definitely has a solid and vivacious body. I immediately returned the sonic blue. Call me crazy, but there was a total difference between the limited edition build. ... show more

  • Been playing bass 40 years. Fender Precision and 5-string ...
Been playing bass 40 years. Fender Precision and 5-string fretless Schechter. This Mustang offers faster riffs due to closer frets, and more sounds due to second set of pickups. Spent hours just exploring the sound variety without changing anything on amp, just with bass toggle and dials. A drawback for some: it's a bit "tappy," as are short basses generally ... meaning you can hear the stings snap the fret bars sometimes, especially on E string. Had it set up professionally at Guitar Center for 40 bucks, which I certainly suggest before you play any bass (especially for an audience). ... show more

  • I highly recommend La Bella’s short scale flatwounds
Color: Capri Orange
Exactly what I expected. I got it in Capri Orange; relatively hard to find. If you’re looking for a short scale Fender bass look no further. I highly recommend La Bella’s short scale flatwounds. Lots of different tones to be found with the pickup selector switch.

Sounds great, looks great, can't stay in tune to save its life due to the saddles not supporting the strings
