Description

Rockers, pop stars, cowboys and more all agree that they deliver unmistakable Fender tone, perfect amps for crafting your own sound, and extremely responsive to your favorite stomp box effects. The GB Hot Rod Deluxe is a 40 watt 1x12" combo especially fine tuned for world famous jazz guitar virtuoso and pop artist George Benson. It has the full bottom end characteristic of 6L6 tubes, and a versatile all tube preamp, including a 12AT7 up front for cleaner tone; especially with hum bucking pickups. A 100 watt Jensen C12K speaker handles the immediacy of Benson's singing soloing style with clarity and range, and the solid pine cabinet increases tonal resonance while reducing weight. Standard features include clean and "drive/more drive" channels, resounding Fender spring reverb, effects loop and more. Personalized exterior touches specified by Benson himself include gray black vinyl covering, silver strand grille cloth and "GB" logo badge. Road worthy deluxe padded cover and two button footswitch included. Separate matching 1x12" extension enclosure (part number 223 1400 000) adds output, fullness and stage coverage.

Such a beautiful tone - the only thing I wish fender would do is make turning up the amp easier. What I mean is - the last 3 amps of theirs I’ve owned I’ve only been able to turn up to 2 or so without it being overbearingly loud. I want something I can go to 6-9 and feel like I’m pushing it. When you can be at 2 and play over a drummer that’s just too low. You get the feeling “am I supposed to be able to play to aircraft taking off on a carrier?” Like there’s no point. This said - the sound is warm and buttery and the changeover from distorted to more distorted is smooth and non abrasive. Such a great amp and sound for a truly diverse range of tones. Literally the only amp I’ll need when I add in my pedal board mix. Obv if I were in a truly metal band I’d have gone Marshall hands down but other than metal fender has always and still has my heart. Don’t be fooled by orange colored amps - get this one. ... show more

Fender quality has really gone downhill with the single sided PCB mounted tube sockets with lead free solder. 2 Traces broke and pads lifted by just plugging in a tube!!! expensive repair!

I love this amp! Have used it for rehearsal and recently played a bar gig with it. Performs beautifully. Magnificent TONE. Lush Reverb. More volume available than I'll ever need. The Celestion speaker gives the clean channel pure crystal clear tone and the gain channel gives a rich throaty overdrive with lots of adjustability to go from a slightly broken up bluesy sound to a shredding fire breathing dragon with the twist of a know. I knew this amp was going to be loud when I got it but thought I would have a little more volume control. Between the 1 and 2 the volume goes from off, to blaringly loud. The amp sounds amazing otherwise. The reverb sounds great. I was able to get the volume under control a little better by using the input 2 but ultimately was just too loud for my purposes. This amp would benefit greatly if fender would install an attenuator at the factory. ... show more

I'm not a session player but I play like one and this amp is everything I could hope for !! I bought it to replace a Fender Super Champ XD that quit on me after 5 years. I like to play a variety of different styles...rockin' country, rock, pop, & blues and this amp gives me everything I need with nothing more than a little overdrive pedal & added treble.
