A courtesy IEC outlet on the back allows you to add an additional Engine Room LVL5, LVL8, or even LVL12 for the biggest rigs. It seems to give more even power to all the pedals I plugged into it (vs my previous brick). It came with a 9-V battery converter that is awesome too. I was constantly having to take pedals off the board to replace 9Vs, and they always seemed to need replacing at the worst possible times, so the converter is going to be a life saver. The fact that I can chain more Fender power bricks together if the need arises is another great feature. The only con I found is that it is a bit thicker than I anticipated which was only an issue because it hit the floor under the board making the board wobble a bit. It was a super easy fix though - I added a couple rubber spacers on the board feet and the problem was solved. This was more an issue with the actual board vs the power supply, but I mention it to help others if they run into the same glitch with their board. I went from your typical daisy chain setup with 12 pedals to the Engine Room LVL 12. Dramatic improvement in my signal. Reverb seems "fuller" and the noise is now completely gone, even with high gain. I have mine mounted under a Pedal Train Pro with hidden strips of velcro, its very secure.

This is a solid power source. I needed something with a minimum 500ma current draw due to my Boss RV-500 and DD-500 processors. This power supply absolutely fits the bill. It powers all of my analog stuff well and fine, and extra convenience features like the USB port (for charging iPad or phone) and the AC output for power supply daisy-chaining takes it the extra mile. While a bit spendy, it's worth the extra cash to have something overbuilt and very stable, and this absolutely meets that requirement! ... show more

So far so good. Popped this thing on my board hung underneath with dual lock and got to plugging things in with minimal fuss. I like the design - very sleek, and I prefer all the plugs facing in the same direction vs my previous supply that had them coming out multiple sides. I haven't used it on any high current pedals yet, so look to other reviews for that info. If I have one critique of this thing it's that there's not much thought to mounting offered. Lots of these will end up on the under-side of pedalboards, and you kind of either have to trust in something like dual lock, or do what others have done and re-purpose those Strymon brackets. I would have loved to have been able to have a mechanical mounting option. Otherwise, while spendy, this thing seems like it has solved my power needs for a good long time. ... show more

It’s HUGE. See my pic. But it fit under my mid size pedalboard perfectly. It’s replacing two inexpensive power supplies which were great individually but together produced a whistle that never stopped. This is super quiet and powers all twelve of my pedals perfectly. It has enough power for my large pedalboard which has 14 pedals. Just need some splitter cables. All my pedals require 9 volts, but two accept up to 18. I connected these to the switchable outlets in case at some point I decide I need more headroom and will switch them up to 18 volts. I agree with others that it would have been great if Fender gave some thought to a bracket for attaching to a pedalboard. But I used a combination of Velcro and zip ties which has always worked for me. Since installation this afternoon, I’ve played about an hour. No snap, crackle, pop, hiss, or whistle. The 12-output engine room is an exceptionally good power supply for large pedal boards. I used the LVL12 to replace two MXR isolated supplies (the big one and the small one) that had different max-current ratings across the outputs. Now, all of my pedals are sound better, and none are gasping for more current. Be aware that this is a big supply: 11.1" (282 mm) x 3.6" (90 mm) x 1.7" (42 mm). I'm using it in a two-tiered board and it's a snug fit, with barely one inch of clearance for the 12 outputs. It's also heavy so use the strongest regular Velcro you can find (two layers of Dual Lock is too tall for the underside of my rig). ... show more
