I’ll start by saying that I am a huge fan of Fender guitars. They are, by far, my favorite brand in what I consider to be the ‘affordable’ range ($100-$400). This particular guitar is definitely on the lower end of that scale. It has a cheaper feel to it than what I’m used to from Fender guitars. However, it is still a good guitar and I would say that, at $139.00, it is exactly what I would expect for that price. I’m still giving it 5 stars because the sound from this guitar is still that ‘Fender Sound’ that I love so much. And regardless of that cheaper feel, it is still well built and would make an excellent guitar for beginners. It came packaged like any other guitar I’ve ever bought and arrived on time with no damages or blemishes. It was slightly under tuned as you should expect for shipping and I only had to tune each string once before they held their tune perfectly. I bought the black one and it has a kind of satin type finish. Not glossy. Which is what I wanted, for a change of pace. I bought this one so I could leave it in my living room and not worry too much about other people picking it up or my cats knocking it over. And it seems to be a great choice for exactly that. I would definitely recommend this guitar, especially for beginners and/or for anyone looking for an inexpensive beater they can leave lying around unattended. Fender guitars have never disappointed me and I have owned at least 10 different Fender models in all price ranges over the years.

Very nice for a budget-level acoustic guitar. It's not what I'd call remarkable but it's build quality, tone, and playability are very good so I expect it will make a solid, reliable instrument. Probably a great choice for a beginner who wants something that sounds good out of the box, has a big brand name on the headstock, and doesn't cost a small fortune. Personally the matte look on an acoustic is not my style and there are some budget-end material choices, but none of those impact the tone or playability to a degree that would warrant taking off a star, and having a "genuine" Fender headstock is a cool touch. Brand-conscious buyers should note that "Fender California" is not the same as "Fender USA;" this guitar is designed in the US and built in China using materials that are more closely aligned with its budget price point than a genuine US-built fender. This is also why the guitar costs 1/10th as much as a US-made Fender. Is the trade-off worth it? It depends on how much those things matter to you. If you just want an affordable strummer for the living room that you don't have to worry too much about if the dog or kid accidentally knocks it over or scratches it, this is a pretty nice guitar and the Fender name may impress a few neighbors. If your playing skills or your perception of tone quality are only enabled in proportion to the money you pay for your instruments or the how many exotic tone woods and finishes you can rattle off about each of your guitars, then this may not be what you're looking for. I'm more in the former category where I just want an affordable, playable, decent-sounding acoustic for the part of my house that doesn't contain all of my other (good but cheap) guitars. And bonus if I can reach the high frets since my other acoustic doesn't really allow me to do that. So for me, the Rodondo CE fits the bill. The guitar was double-boxed from Amazon (a large outer Amazon box and a trapezoidal inner Fender box) which appeared to protect it well, as it arrived unharmed. Upon tuning it up and trying it out, I collected some quick observations that are detailed below: Appearance - positives: + High quality fit & finish: If not for the fiddlehead headstock, this guitar wouldn't really grab your attention...BUT...in terms of how well executed that matte finish has been applied, they did a very nice job; I can't find any flaws. + Spruce top: You can see on my attached photo that the top panel has much more pronounced wood grains than the Amazon stock product photo, and the sound hole is surrounded by a 6-ply rosette design. This "saves" the guitar's look for me, otherwise I wouldn't be a fan of the pale natural wood tone without at least a little additional flare somewhere (like fancier binding or rosette design). + Walnut fretboard: The wood used for the fingerboard is a nice shade with some decent woodgrain; I have another guitar that uses walnut for the same area and it's one of the more attractive fretboards in my collection. + Fender fiddlehead: One thing that sets this guitar apart from others is the iconic "fiddlehead" on top with 6 inline tuners, whereas most dreadnaughts (even other Fender models) have some form of open book / paddle headstock with 3x3 tuner configurations. I like how different this makes the guitar look. Appearance - negatives: - Overall it's just dull: Other than the wood grain on the top and the Fender fiddlehead, it's just not very inspiring-looking to me. It's 100% personal preference, of course...I'm just really old-school and don't get excited about matte / satin finishes on guitars. Musical instruments should be a tiny bit flashy! Plus, the brown stain on the back/side/back is not all that rich; it just seems to be there to hide the otherwise unremarkable wood grains (neither basswood nor nato are known for being particularly attractive woods, they're just cheap and readily available). Again, the finish has zero defects, so it's well-done. It just doesn't excite me. Functional - positives: + Factory set-up: This guitar is well set-up from the factory, which it had better be because the bridge is fixed-height and there are NO TRUSS ROD ADJUSTMENTS possible, limiting your string action variables to the nut, the saddle, and nothing else. Luckily, it was done well and doesn't seem to require any tweaking. String action is on the lower side for an acoustic - no buzz, no pitch bending on open chords or higher notes due to nut height or intonation issues. But I can see where this could be problematic if you don't have the best luck of the draw coming from China. + Decent tuners: The tuners are fairly smooth and appear to have a fairly high gear ratio, making them easy to adjust and sensitive enough to fine-tune. + Very good fretwork: Frets are nicely leveled and finished; I found no sharp edges, dead frets, or other issues that typically plague cheaper guitars. + Compensated bridge saddle: I haven't ascertained whether the bridge saddle is plastic or bone, but it is at least compensated to improve intonation, which is a common problem I often find myself addressing when I work on older acoustic guitars. This keeps the strings in tune as you play all over the fretboard. + Nut: Appears to be a well-cut nut (material unknown); no need to file the slots or to replace it at this time, as open chords appear to ring true to relative tune. + Tone: Being a dreadnaught, the guitar has a deep, warm tone compared to the brighter-sounding OM that I typically strum around the house. The sound is rich and dynamic, which should project well outdoors or in larger rooms. + Piezo pickup: The guitar produces a nice balanced tone when plugged into my amp. Note that a 9v battery (not included) is required for the pickup to function. Functional - negatives: - Lack of adjustability: My only complaint - already touched on above - is the inability to make any adjustments to this guitar. What you get is what you get. Right now it's not a problem, as the factory setup appears to be adequate. But acoustics are more subject to humidity & temperature effects that impact string height, neck curvature, etc., so I do have concerns about how "seasonal" playability will fare in the long-run. On my 40+ year old OM style guitar, both the truss rod and the bridge saddle height are adjustable, and I've had to fuss with them often. So...fingers crossed on that. Overall, this is a very nice guitar that will serve its function well for me. I think it would also work out well for beginners because it's likely that you can open it, tune it, and play it fairly quickly. And like I said, the Fender name, headstock design, and overall perfect fit & finish make it a good value for the price point as long as you understand what you're getting and set your expectations accordingly.

I love my new Fender acoustic. I used to be a decent guitar player back in my wayward youth, but it has been years since I have picked one up, so I am basically back at a beginner level. This is a great guitar to pick it back up. It looks lovely with nice colors and finish. It is light and easy to hold with a nice shape and thickness for me. It plays well, and I haven't put it down much since I got it I was a little worried about this getting damaged in transit, but it was packaged well with a soft bag covering it and fitted box to keep it from banging around on the way. I haven't noticed any scratches or blemishes, so I appreciate the care taken when designing the packaging It comes at a great price for the quality of guitar. Pro players will probably want something better, but for beginners or anyone that just wants something to strum on occasionally, this is probably one of the better acoustics at this price point. It was pretty close to being in tune right out of the box, but it comes equipped with an onboard tuner which is a nice bonus for those like me that have a hard time tuning just based on sound. There is also a 9 volt battery included to get you started It produces a nice rich sound that is better than I expected. It doesn't come with any extras like a case, picks, strap, or stand, but I wouldn't expect that at this price point. It does include a free month subscription for the Fender app which includes tutorials and more. I haven't explored the app yet, but I plan to as I could certainly use the tutorials Overall, you can't do much better than this for the price
