I have a commercial greenhouse. Reliable tools are a must. The needs vary in the greenhouse but the majority of the work for pruning is harvesting. After buying many throwaways from the big box stores I decided to invest in some name brand cutters. I bought several pruners to test them. The Fuskers 9921 This one is small. When I say small , I’m not kidding. The whole thing fits in the palm of my hand. Having said that, it defiantly has it’s uses. We trim a lot of suckers and leaves from the plants. A lot of the work is close to the flowers and terminal buds to the small size is a plus. I also like the ambidextrous blade lock. The needle nose is good and bad. They are good for that TINY snip but stab the plant and your fingers if you are not careful. Also don’t even think of using these to cut anything remotely large or heavy or woody. My wife broke one of the blades off the one I bought (not the plastic handle; the blade broke in two where the pin holds the 2 blades together) and she is tiny too. However I will probably be buying a replacement because they fit my wife's hand so well. Felco F-2 This one is big. Very well made tool; pricy too. No complaints for what it is. Use it for heavier tasks of pruning branches and stems. The F-2 is all metal except for the grip cover and the blade is replaceable or can be sharpened and adjusted. We found it too big for most of the work we do in the greenhouse. The curved blade that is great for cutting branches is a bit problematic. It is too heavy for harvesting. Felco 310 This one is just about right. I traded in my Felco F-2 to give this a try. First off these is a significant difference between the F-2s and these. The F-2 is all metal except for the grip cover and this one is the handles are plastic and the other parts are made from flat sheet metal. The blade is not adjustable but they could be taken apart and sharpened. It is noticeably cheaper built, however it is less than 1/3 the price. I was surprised for its size that the handles open so wide. But it allows for the blade to open wider if you need it. It takes some getting used to. I love the rounded nose of the blades. No more stabbing the plants or my fingers or my rear when it put them in my back pocket. The lock is simple built metal attached to metal. The stops for the spring loaded handle opening are metal on plastic though. So far they so no sign of wear or weakening where the blade strikes the plastic. Perhaps that’s why they open so far, so you are not constantly banging the stop. They are sharp as you expect for any new tool. I will be buying a few more of these. ... show more

Felco is the best. Bought this one because if it needs repaired, there’s a nut that can be removed to get to what ever needs fixing, most of the others don’t have the nut! It’s just the size I need for precise cutting on my indoor plants or delicate outdoor ones!

The Felco F310 Pruning Snips are now manufactured in Taiwan. They seem pricey for Taiwan made but work fine. Felco USA answered my inquiry with the following letter Hi Leo, Yes, the FELCO 310 are currently manufactured in Taiwan. That product has seen several changes in manufacturing origin over the years from Italy, to Japan, and now in Taiwan. Not ALL FELCO products are manufactured in Switzerland. The one-hand pruners, two-hand loppers, and their spare parts are all manufactured in Switzerland. Snips and scissors are made in Taiwan, and formerly in Japan and Italy. The pull-stroke pruning saws are manufactured in South Korea, the gloves are made in Pakistan, and the leather holsters are made in the USA. All of these products (aside from the local holsters) were designed in Switzerland and are quality assured in Switzerland. Amazon is an authorized reseller of FELCO products, and you should not receive a fake or counterfeit product when purchasing from them. Of course, it's always prudent to check who the seller is when purchasing anything on 3rd party marketplaces like Amazon and eBay. Counterfeit FELCO being sold in these marketplaces was problematic years ago, but we have worked to eradicate the problematic offenders and make Amazon a safe place to purchase FELCO. I bought these to replace another Felco snips that had become too annoying to use because they kept sticking, in spite of the fact that I washed and dried them after every use.
