I'm a lifelong dog owner & my dogs have always trained me in constantly getting up & down to let them in & out 24/7. Finally, thanks to my latest rescue & work from home routine- I decided to try a doggie door. Why did I wait so long? The freedom for me & my fur babies is great!!! I purchased the "used-like new" option, there's a small ding in the frame & the outer package was pretty torn up & retaped. But that was mentioned in the product details & for the reduced price that I paid, I don't mind. The product inside the box was new & all the pieces were included and able to be installed. Installing it took me about 30 minutes. I have a very old sliding glass door, so I did have to make some adjustments after the initial installation to slide it into the doorframe. There was still a big gap after installing the provided weatherstriping , but I added weatherstriping that I had onhand to the door surface itself & between that & a few pieces of foil tape, filled the gap. So weatherstriping on doogie door frame side & then on sliding glass door frame side, fixed the issue. The adjustable bar style lock on the other side helps to keep it all lined up & fairly air tight. It was very easy to figure out & my 2 yr old schipperke mix was already going in & out as I was trying to install it. He's the main reason I got it, so I was very happy he liked it. My 12 yr old cheweenie is still trying to figure it out. He's nervous about the flap movement, so I have to flip it open & closed for him.... hoping he gets it someday. But at least I have 1 dog using it fulltime & non-stop all day & all night long. The magnetic flap is pretty good about closing itself as the dogs go in & out. Yes, I'm sure it's not particularly energy efficient- but it does what I need it to do. It does include an inside shield that slides over the flap & snap locks it shut, so you can close it up at night & when you're not home. One observation I do have, is that it's listed as being good for up to 35 pound dogs. My guys both weigh in at about 24 pounds & while they fit thru the door ok- I cannot imagine trying to squeeze another 10 pounds thru that opening? I might suggest sizing up from the suggested weights in the product details if you have a larger dog. Very happy with it so far. If anything changes, I'll update my review.

This was a great purchase. It took zero effort to install. Literally, just put it in place and its ready to use. Cats love it. It is thin. So, if you're looking for energy-efficiency, this might not work for you. However, I had no expectations of it being weatherproof. As such, this doesn't bother me at all nor do I think that it detracts from the quality. Great option if you're renting because it's 100% portable and you can take it with you when you move.

I held the flap open for a few days with painter's tape until my little dogs and cat got used to this being their way "out" and back in. It took less than 30 minutes to install by myself. I wish I'd gotten this a long time ago!

Living in an apartment this allowed our pooch access to the outdoor deck. Very easy to install. Can with weather proofing and extra stuff to seal gaps. Installed during the summer, so no issues yet.

Easy as heck and super convenient. You can definitely feel the air blowing through around the frame, not so much through the door flap. My fat cat requires the small dog door but when their is no other option on a sliding door it is super convenient for sure. Additional weather stripping is definitely required. Depending on your frame you may need a build up under the locking pin for clearance.

I did not measure correctly, my bad and ended up returning not just one but 2....the first one arrived and was sent in error the 95" one. The 2nd one which I thought would go small enough did not work. Finally I discovered I needed the Short version for my door. I ended up ordering somewhere else since it was not offered here but it is the same model here (80") just shorter. Installation was okay, I didn't want to remove the interior latch so I have placed insulation in between the insert and the door frame to fill the gap. The side where door meets insert the insulation is not perfect and will need to get a strip of the other flap (non-technical) that goes onto the other end of the open slider door to allow continued opening of the door but cover the gap. The flap piece works great to block out wind coming in on the slider door where it meets the glass and stays put when opening. I have 2 small dogs, (Yorkie 5lbs and Dachshund 18lbs), I purchased the medium which allows them to easily get through, if the Dachshund gets much wider that wouldn't be the case. The challenge is the lip at the bottom of the door, not sure why it has to be that high but it caused difficulty for the dachshund to get through with his long/low body. Also take note of the drop to the patio on the outside, we ended up placing 'steps' even with the door to facilitate easier entry. It took a few days of training with treats to get them to use it consistently. Overall, it does what I want, allows the dogs to get in/out and not be permanently installed.
