  • A must have for designers, regardless of focus area
I purchased this book after reading the reviews, and I was not disappointed. I have referenced it so much, I purchased both the Kindle and physical copy. There are many descriptions on how to render fabrics, excellent picture references, not to mention the book is reasonably priced. This book is perfect for fashion designers, but those who are in other artistic fields would benefit from it. I would even recommend it to someone who is using midjourney to create reference photos, as the terminology will help with prompts. Don’t sleep on it; it’s a must have. ... show more

  • Excellent Illustration book and very inspiring!!
This is what Fashion illustration books should be like, inspirational, this book is truly inspirational. Doesn't just teach you simple techniques on how to draw figures but also has amazing and colorful illustrations that just makes you want to seat and start drawing. I love her mix of colors and her soft hand drawings, but more than anything I like the way she play with colors and the mix of media to create textures. I am not sure if this book will be good for a beginner, I am experienced fashion designer and just wanted to brush on my skills because I am updating my portfolio and I haven't being drawing by hand much except always in the computer. But this book takes you straight to the point, kind of assuming you already have some fashion figure background. On the fabric rendering session she just briefly explain what medium she uses but doesn't takes you step by step with demonstrations. But I guess for the price of this book it is well worth it to buy anyway, for any aspiring fashion designer to have for inspiration. The figure drawing session and flats session as well as dressing the figure I think has a good step by step tutorial. Overall I love this book I am glad I bought it. I wish this book came with DVD showing the author demonstrating drawing and doing some color illustrations, and the use of her different medias to do her illustrations, as well as her great fabric and color rendering, I wouldn't mind paying double. I believe the best part of this book are the color illustrations, even with not so much tutorial on how to do it. I hope that in the future she expands this book in to more color illustrations and fabric color rendering. ... show more

  • Why One Buys This Book !!!
Want to learn how to draw fashion illustrations including instructions on how to achieve high-end haute couture clothing, styles? This is the book. It helps an artist with color, design, with an emphasis on the "whole look." A gift to young artist working in various mediums. Her beginning fashion designs showed real promise, but it seemed she didn't have a good reference book. It's important that the reader already has figure drawing talents, if it's just an inkling at this point. This book is to get the 'essence' of design. The colors absolutely took my breath away .. not seen anything as complete as this for a young designer. One needs a beautiful inspirational guide to move onto to higher levels of work. She loved this and was excited to get started. Happy that I also purchased a fine quality sketch book, also artist-quality colored pencils with this purchase. Very impressive, a great model for what an artist might be capable of, maybe to just to open an imagination. Beautifully written, there are illustrations and instructions to figure drawing, types of materials and how they are drawn, many unique creations to dream upon. A great purchase for anyone thinking of going into fashion illustrations for a career or for another creative facet of their artistry. ... show more

  • Must have book for fashion designers
The media could not be loaded. I bought the book used and it was in good condition, for only $11.00. Definitely worth the price and will definitely purchase again from the author and Amazon. The book was recommended and the pictures and reading are simple to follow and understand.

  • absolutely stunning artwork, most amazing fashion art instruction book I’ve ever seen, perfect!
This is by far, one of the best, most stunningly beautiful fashion books I’ve ever seen! I absolutely love it. The illustrations are amazing, the artwork alone is worth it. But the info, instruction and tips given come from a true artist who is able to give guidance in a way anyone can understand. U won’t be disappointed, I think about buying a 2nd copy just to have to keep perfect! I wish the author/artist would consider making MORE books on fashion. Definitely purchase if ur ‘deciding’ It is fabulous! Thank u! ... show more

  • A piece of art
I buy this book looking for inspiration for my drawings, and sure do its purpose. I am a beginner in the fashion career, start taking sewing classes and drawing illustration classes at a local school in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico a year ago, and since then I have been doing it by my own. The illustrations in this book are fantastic, and it's going to open your mind beyond the regular drawing. The author gives you some tricks to help you illustrate in a more artistic way using different resources, but WILL NOT tell you how to do it. If you are looking a starting book to tell you how to start drawing, this is not the book for you. I am a beginner as I write before, but I found the book illustrations to be a motivation to go further. ... show more

  • Excellent Resource for Fashion Illustration
I purchased Fashion Illustration: Inspiration and Technique by Anna Kiper in August (2012). Each page of the book is filled with gorgeous color fashion drawings by Ms. Kiper. In Fashion Illustration: Inspiration and Technique Ms. Kiper covered the basics of drawing a proper fashion figure and quickly moved on to the more sophisticated process of drawing fashion figures in many different poses wearing different outfits, textures and prints. There are tips on how to render a wide range fabrics and prints (denim, floral print, tulle, polka-dot, paisley, plaid). Ms. Kiper also kindly took the time to list the necessary tools (markers, pens, tulle, lace, pencils) she used to create the beautiful illustrations included in the book. I would highly recommend Fashion Illustration: Inspiration and Technique to anyone interested in polishing their fashion illustration skills. ... show more
