  • ARRIVED SUPER FAST!
Book is older edition but still relevant to my needs. It is a used book that looks new. CD included with book. Shipped fast, arrived days early. After glancing through the book I can see that I will get a lot of information from it as it looks to be packed with information.

  • Very Helpful
Got this as a beginner machine embroiderer ... it's loaded with useful info. Get it and keep it by your machine. Even experienced embroiderers will benefit with an occasional 'flip-through'. Good list of helpful websites to visit ... several pages of definitions that every embroiderer needs to be familiar with ... a big troubleshooting section that I have used to fix problems a couple of times! ... and comes with a CD with small designs that you can make work for you. If you are just getting this book as a beginning machine embroiderer, the designs are simple enough to get you started. I hate to read about or see somebody complain about something basic who is an experienced person ... I have more experience now than when I got this book, but I still consider this book extremely helpful, and I find those designs useful too. You can be the most experienced sewer on the PLANET and could still (use this book!) be considerate of at least the author of the book and say it's useful to Someone ... it's a good book. You wouldn't regret your purchase if you are a beginning embroiderer. ... show more

  • Good book
this book had just enough information in it to get myself in trouble. While I would not consider it to be a Machine Embroidery Bible, it addressed a lot of things that someone new to machine embroidery would like to know. The book is a bit dated though, because many of the links in the reference section were dead. But there are now so many other sites out there it is not a huge deal. Also, check out iTunes, there are quite a few embroidery apps out there - who knew?! ... show more

  • A well-written guide to success at the embroidery machine!
I purchased this book used at a steep discount because it did not have the CD. It is worth the "new" price even without the CD. I wanted to buy a sewing-embroidery machine, but thought I should know more about it before I spent the money. After reading this book, I knew I HAD to have such a machine, because it can do so much more than I ever thought it could. In addition to opening my eyes about the breadth of embroidery functionality, the instructions for HOW to use the machine so that your efforts are successful are fabulous. Clearly written, concise and simple, these instructions are a superb primer for machine embroiderers. The trouble-shooting advise is fantastic. I especially appreciate that the author sought support from multiple experts, vendors and manufacturers, so the reader receives the broadest possible array of knowledge, and not just machine embroidery from the perspective of a single manufacturer or vendor. In short, you would be wasting money if you spent hundreds, or even thousands, of dollars on a sewing/embroidery machine without spending a few dollars on this book! ... show more

  • Very Good For The Basics
I am a new machine embroiderer. I needed a book for learning the basics and for immediate reference. There is so much more to machine embroidery than it would appear on the surface. Needles, threads, stabilizers, hooping; there are just dozens of questions. This book answered most of my questions. (The internet is also a good place for this info, but I like to have a book by my side if possible.) Stabilizers are one very important area. If your stabilizer is wrong for your fabric, the design will not stitch out well. This book has a detailed explanation of each type of stabilizer and what to use it for. How to hoop is explained and shown in a series of step by step drawings. So are different techniques. This book came with a CD-ROM with six designs that are featured in the book. This is a very good book for beginners like myself. I have already used it for reference when working on a project. It was well worth the money. ... show more

  • ANSWERS questions before you think of them
WHERE has this book been all my life?? This book takes everything down to the basics and then back up, making it soooo easy to make a beautiful professional finished design. I was very frustrated because so many books tell you how to hoop fabric, bu I hadn't found one that gave in-depth instructions on HOW to place the design on the fabric and how ( and what) to measure, so it is where you want it!! This book is from soup to dessert and includes the photos if you have problems understanding the written directions (although I don't know how that could happen). Clear, Concise, and Careful the directions are written without assuming you don't know one end of an embroidery machine from the other and are able to find the "on" switch. Thank you Jeanine Twigg for giving us more confidence! ... show more
