Without these, the lamp we hung would be so so. These make the lamp more authentic to the farmhouse decor. Easy to use but you have to unscrew the wheel to hang the cord with a bulky on/off switch. Not hard to do. The only con: a bit pricey... but glad I purchased them.

These do plug into an outlet, no wiring needed!!! I ordered these because I wanted some unique lamps by the headboard in my bedroom. I honestly thought that these would be easily damaged and was worried about the thickness of the lamp shade. However, these were completely opposite of that. They are extremely well made, and you can immediately tell from the weight of just one. The lamp shade was about 5 times the thickness I was guessing they would be. Definitely not going to be easily damaged or bent. The paint job on the outside is very professional and looks to be multiple coats as not to scratch easily. The cord is more than long enough for typical ceiling height and then some. It has a rocker style switch on the cord for on or off. The pulley itself is not cheap but not built to lift a car, its perfect for the application. The only negatives I have is that the inside of the lamp shade is painted whited and the contrast from the brushed bronze color to the white is drastic, but you can place them where you wouldn't see both at the same time. Not sure what other color would even be considered to use to reflect light and still look great. It's not a big deal at all. I do wish it came with 3 set point plates for hanging it up and securing it to the wall and ceiling. It would make it easier to reach the screw that loosens the cable because I would like to be able to adjust my lamps height without needing a step ladder to reach it. But not a big deal either as most applications for the installation of these would be more permanent. I would highly recommend these to anyone. I love these lights. Unfortunately, mine did not come with the screws to hold the cages on. I got a refund but was told to keep them. I improvised holding the cages on and no one seemed to notice.
