We use this carrier for Chessie, our full-grown male cat. He has plenty room. You can put a cat or small dog through the top - or open one side. I was looking for a carrier that would be safe going to the vet. This has a shoulder strap and a double handle, which is great. He can see out both sides and above, so he settles down quickly. It is really nice and well made, and I could use the carrier while in a tuxedo. It’s THAT nice.

Bought this for travel to buy a kitten. We needed this to fly home with her. It would not have been big enough for anything other than a small kitten. Importantly it fit under the seat in front of me without issue. Easily carried through the airport. Would highly suggest for a small kitten or very small puppy but not anything bigger.

It was purchased because it seemed like a great value rather than the hard-shell carriers. First of all, it arrives folded down into a very compact package. You unfold it and zip the "structural" zippers and, voila, the carrier is ready to use! There are top and front zippered doors for the animal--way more convenient at the vet or groomer. My vet was quite impressed.
