The device I was connecting also had a 3/8” hole, but that could easily be a problem if you have 1/4” equipment that you want to attach. If I understood correctly, this product is to mount optics on a vehicle window. Product only tightens to a limit which is wider than the window on my truck, thus, is loose and unusable as is. Can remedy with a shim but it's ridiculous for a window mount to be unable to tighten on a window. **Seller contacted me and offered to send a replacement, stating that the mount should tighten to 2mm (mine closer to 4mm). I opted for a refund so I'm not sure if it's just mine that is defective. Regardless, I changed my original 1 star rating to 3 for great customer service.

This clip is very simple and sturdy, thick metal build and metal bolts. The rubber pads in the clamping area are thick and sure to protect glass from scratching. There is a minimum thickness for what the clamp can attach to, anything bellow about 1/16” cannot be properly secured in the clamp, this is the lowest thickness of the gap in the clamp. For how solid this feels, I’d be worried of the window it gets attached to not to crack under load, but this clamp will surely hold the advertised 5 lb. On the downside, this comes with a 3/8” bolt – a standard size for attaching many optical devices like large binoculars, but not as common for camcorders and action cameras, the latter are commonly using 1/4”. No adapter to 1/4” is provided, I have to take an adapter from a different device or buy one to keep at all times with this clamp. So, very good overall but skimping on providing an adapter for the most common use of such clamps these days. Still a five star product in my opinion, but with a dent on the fifth star.
