Description

The GK110 includes all the amenities usually found on full-size buggies, but it's sized just for kids and includes an adjustable seat with a seat to pedal distance from 27.5 to 31 inches. Tao built in standard features like a low- maintenance, four-stroke engine and automatic transmission with reverse, full suspension, hydraulic disc brakes, and a rugged tubular steel frame. Big, 16 inch, all-terrain tires are larger than on most youth sized go karts, offering a generous 3.5 inch ground clearance for excellent handling on the trail. Plus, it comes with a parental remote control for extra safety. A speed limiter can easily be added to make sure the go kart can only go as fast as you want it to.

First off, you have to assemble a few parts on the gokart. You might not think that's a big deal. It comes with instructions, right? Wrong. You have to go online and watch some guy who is obviously an engineer blather on as if you were one of the guys on the assembly line while he hands his cell phone to Michael J Fox to record. (Bad joke, I know.) The camera constantly bounces around, zooms in to a completely different area than the instructor is pointing, or doesn't zoom in on an important part. Once you figure out how to get it together and get it running, you'll find that most of the bolts fall out after a few minutes or hours of use depending on the terrain. A good chunk of the bolts don't include locking washers. Hopefully you have a decent knowledge of bolt/nut/washer sizes and can head over to your local True Value Hardware store to buy a bunch. If your kids end up taking in on uneven terrain or 'snag' a wheel on something while doing 5 miles per hour or greater you'll probably snap the gear in the steering wheel column. A quick call to the manufacturer will get it replaced for something like $30 including shipping. A few more hours of use will cause more bolts will fall out. Hopefully you bought extra bolts and locking washers--because you'll never find them in your yard, a field, or the woods. If you manage to make it to 5 hours or so, you'll notice that some of the bolts actually bend or snap under what I would consider expected usage by children. The wheel bolts are welded in, so once they snap you'll have to purchase a $65 part or two (not including shipping) Lastly if your kids end up running over something that might pop the tire, you'll have to pony up $75 per tier, plus shipping. I'm pretty sure tires cost less at Les Schwab for my *car*. One cool thing is the parental remote that comes with it. You can totally remote-start it or even kill the engine if your kid is about to drive into traffic. The only down side is the range. Sometimes it seems to work from 75 feet away. Other times I can be 25 feet away hammering the button while my kids are hurtling towards their doom...and nothing happens. Anyways, if you're not mechanically inclined and really want to learn, this is the GoKart for you. You'll spend a decent amount of time figuring out how to fix various pieces that fall off or break. Of course from the kid-perspective, they love it and have a blast. If I could turn back time, I'm honestly on the fence if I would purchase it again. UPDATE: After buying locking washers, fixing the snapped gear in the steering column, and replacing batteries in the remote (which didn't help the range at all), now the gas pedal cable is sticking. If a kid revs it up, the motor gets stuck at a high RPM until they either turn it off or I pull the rubber boot off the carburetor and manually jiggle the cable. Update after less than two months ownership and about 4 hours use: the tie rod (strut? Whatever attached the steering wheel to the wheel) snapped a bolt. I now completely regret purchasing this thing. It's a poorly made piece of junk that can't run for more than 15 minutes without breaking. Now here's the part that kept it a two-star rating: When I'd had enough, I contacted the company and they made it right--they sent me a return label and took the gokart back. Gave to My 7 yo grand daughter for Christmas. She only rode it a few times but by February it was broke. Contacted company. No warranty, no help to get it fixed. Now it’s just sitting in garage. Looks cool but not worth the money.

It is nice but those carburetor is no good You cannot disassemble the carburetor cap and for what it's worth is not good Plunges on one gear causes the piston too many burner wear out

If I could give Family Go Carts zero stars, I would. It turns out that the only thing they provide for a factory in China is payment processing. My go cart arrived with multiple missing parts (bolts and part of the roll cage) and zero instructions. We now can not use the sunscreen because one of the roll cage pieces was missing and Home Depot doesn’t sell a replacement part for that. The “step-by-step” assembly dvd was for an older model go cart that came with the shocks already assembled as were the YouTube videos. My shocks were not pre assembled. Putting together the Go Cart took 8 hours (not including running to Home Depot to purchase missing bolts) and my husband has considerable small engine experience. When I first called to request the missing parts, Family Go Carts was closed for Labor Day weekend. I left a message and no one called me back. When I finally did get a hold of someone, I was directed to their webpage and told to go through and extremely arduous process to have the parts shipped to me directly from China (if, and only if, I follow all the steps correctly). So, now I have a waiting game to see if my missing parts application will be accepted. Thankfully Home Depot did sell the wheel bolts, so my sons can enjoy their birthday before sometime next year. If you enjoy putting together very small, gas powered vehicles on a wing and a prayer, then this go cart and Family Go Carts is for you. I recommend just going to your local ATV dealership and spending the extra $200 (and $30 to rent a Uhaul) to purchase an assembled one and bring it home yourself. Update: After only 8 months, one of the engine seals broke and all the oil drained out. FamilyGoCarts has never responded to my warranty claim. So, now I have a $1300 piece of trash. ... show more
