A non-slip bottom helps keep mats in place during use. Our baby was starting to pull herself up on things, and despite our best efforts to shadow/catch her, she would sometimes fall and hit her head on our LVP flooring. Even her foam play mat didn't offer much protection, so I started looking at tumbling mats. This thing is great. If she falls on it, she doesn't even seem phased. We paired this mat with the softscape climbing blocks, which our daughter loves, and even my frugal husband commented on what a good purchase it was. It has held up really nicely so far, though my daughter claws at it and chews on the edges while she's teething. We're about to move into a home with a bigger play area, so we might buy a second one. This is something she can use for years, unlike most of the baby items we've purchased. When we need to vacuum, we just fold it up and it's out of the way. It works well for my grand to tumble on. Nice thickness. I do wish it came apart in 2 pieces, at the connection points, for more flexibility in spacing, but otherwise very nice. A little pricey, but worth it.
