I have a shelter logic 10x10 shed that the original woven polyethylene fabric cover lasted for 10 years. I had gotten a new replacement cover, but it only lasted one year before the replacement woven polyethylene fabric cover started to shred and the rain poured in. Not wanting to waste more money getting another replacement, I started to look into canvas tarps. I wish I had discovered this type of tarp years ago. This tarp is best described as Military grade, the same sort of very thick cotton type of fabric used in the old style of pole tent. It's got a really nice weight to it as well, so it drapes over items very well, and doesn't seem like it would be easy to blow away in the wind. I used this as a shade for one of our windows facing our driveway that gets sun all day long for some shade and to reduce the temperature. It did both perfectly. Window is cool to the touch and it dimmed the incoming sunlight very well. We haven't had any rain yet to discern how water resistant it is, but I don't expect it to be that effective against rain since the weave in the fabric is not that dense.

You just can't beat real canvas tarps. This is a heavy-duty tarp. I used it to cover an old canvas tent that is breaking down and starting to leak. This kept the rain off the tent. With the new tarp, water will bead and run off easily. For me it is still new so I will have to look up the manufacturers recommendations for keeping it water resistant in the years to come.
