  • A Fairly Good Mix of Past Standards & Some Modern Hits
Format: Paperback
I bought this book to get back into playing the Sax after a 20 year layoff. While this is a fun book, take your time and compare this book to some of the others offered by Hal Leonard. Hal Leonard has been a reliable fixture in the music industry for decades, and I want to encourage you to consider the music book with online audio concept also offered on Amazon. I think that is a great way for a new student to gain some confidence and to have some fun while learning the Sax. ... show more

  • Not for Beginners
Format: Paperback
I bought this for my son, who has two years of saxophone experience. I was hoping to get him a book with more popular songs than the ones in his school book. Although my son liked the songs, he found them difficult to play. Although it is advertised as songs for beginners, "50 first songs", many of the notes were unfamiliar to him. There is also no visual aid in the back. I would have returned this book, but I missed the window. I think this book is more geared towards intermediate players. ... show more

  • Great collection for my teen
Format: Paperback
This was a tiny bit more advanced than what my teen can play so far on the saxophone...started only 1/2 a year ago, but it's just right to push them without being way too difficult. The notes are clearly written and very easy to read. The table of contents lists where each song is, so it's not a problem to find them. The book fits well on the music stand, too. ... show more
