You just can't beat Made in USA quality. The tarps are heavy duty, accurately sized (allow for the hems--sizes are before finishing), and the grommets are very well seated. We use UV-resistant Thompson Water Seal on these when new (roll on, let dry 3 days) and even in the Florida sun, they are lasting 3-4 years outside in full sun 365 days a year. This is a heavy tarp as advertised. I did not measure it but it seems about the right size. It has been heavily treated and does have an odor as others have noted. It is waterproof, it kept water out of my camping gear on a recent trip. Note that this size (8x10) is constructed from two pieces of canvas sewn together if that matters to you. Also when you leave it in the sun and it gets hot, the waxy treatment gets sticky and will easily rub off on everything from your gear under it to your hands and clothes. (If you are using this tarp as a tent wall or floor it should be mighty fine anyway.) Not a deal breaker just be aware of that. I will probably retreat with paraffin and beeswax at the end of the camping season. I do like it and will get a few more. The grommets are heavy and should last. ... show more

This tarp is AWESOME! Yes, it IS 21 oz material, you read that right. Yes, for THAT price! Really well made, sturdy as a beast, and functional as can be. Well waxed, sheets water like a duck's... uh.. feathers. I am going to buy another couple of these, because like all great, well made, sturdy products, I am always afraid I won't be able to buy them again down the road. This tarp harkens back to a time when materials like this were the norm, not the exception. It's like a tarp your dad or grampa would use, back when they had mutton-chop sideburns and handlebar moustaches and wore flannel and fixed anything. It reminds me of a good Crescent wrench, or a really well made pair of shoes. Great workmanship, reliability, and you don't have to worry (or even think) about it not performing its intended function well. (Sigh. I miss those days, don't you?) I use this one to cover the bed of my pickup when hauling a load, and this tarp functions like a CHAMP. Heavy enough that it doesn't flap like a frayed blue white-trash cheapo tarp, and look sharp as well. I use the little ball-bungee straps through the grommets (plenty of them, well spaced around the tarp) and this guy cinches down tight and worry free. I will buy another for a ground cloth for a tent, and one as a shade canopy for camping as well. Highly recommended. ... show more

    • Far Better than Poly type tarps

We were sick of the usual cheap poly tarps to cover our small trailer that we use to take stuff to the landfill. We decided to spend a bit more and get this canvas tarp. We can't believe how much nicer and better it is: It's easy to handle and fold up.....it easily folds up into a neat and compact square, unlike the poly tarps. The grommets are solid and good quality, the canvas is strong and thick, and it covers a trailer load without flapping around when on the road at 60mph. We don't feel this tarp is excessively priced, and it is well worth the extra money because it will clearly last. The only thing to emphasize is to pay attention to the SIZE. The listed size (in this case 6x8) is apparently the raw material cut size, but after the edges are folded over a couple of times on all sides and sewn with the grommets then added on, it does end up smaller than 6x8. The size works well enough for us, but if we put a higher load in our trailer (that comes up a bit higher than the sides of the trailer, I think the next size up would have been better...8x10, which would come down farther on the sides of the trailer but which itself would be less than 8x10. ... show more

I bought the to cover part of my patio to keep it dry. We got are first rain last night for just a couple of hours and everything that was under this canvas got soaked it’s definitely not water resistant. Very disappointed in it. Especially for the price.

I like this tarp and been holding up. I mainly use it for my roof top basket on my car. I camp and roadtrip plenty throughout the year and carry all my gear and stuff on top held down nice with this tarp. This does not flap around like a plastic bag like those blue tarps. I probably went through a nice stack until I came across this one. I had a rip from carrying my axe on top but a quick fix with my awl is all it took. Grommets still intact and not ripped off as I use bungee balls to strap to the basket. I'm thinking this could be double duty as a canopy shade for camp. Only downside it does have a strong smell at first and will melt off whatever coating it has on a hot day and stain. Once you get passed that then you're golden. ... show more
