After upgrading (yes, it was an upgrade for me) to the new Bauer 14x20 lathe from Harbor Freight, I quickly found a problem. My previous lathe was the the old Central Machinery 12x33 and I had paired it with Tim Yoder's (original) Elbo hollowing system (which is a really wonderful system). But a 20" bed length was too narrow for the hollower! Because accessories for a HF product are not exactly common, I wasn't sure what I was going to do about the problem, but I did some searching anyway. I came across this extension on the bmwoodturning.com site initially, but it was sold out. I kept checking, but it was still not available. And searching here on Amazon revealed no results. Then I found a set of search terms that landed me on this item. I don't recall how I finally managed to find it, but I snapped it up as soon as I saw it. With this extension, my 14x20 is now a 14x32, which is pretty close to my old lathe and works great with the Elbo hollower. It's also nice that I have extra working space (I no longer feel the need to remove the tailstock when hollowing bowls). The quality of the extension is good enough, but not perfect. I found that I was able to get it installed and leveled relatively easily, but I also found it is shifted backward from the lathe bed by about 1/32". In operation, this doesn't cause any real problems, but the tailstock does give a slight clunk as you slide it past. This is probably due to some inaccuracy in the machining on the lathe itself, but the extension manufacturer could allow for some front-to-back adjustment by slightly widening the slots the mounting screws rest in. The price on this is excellent! Given the difference it makes (at least for me), I'm loving it!

Works perfectly with the Bauer 14x21 woodworking Lathe. Only extension I’ve found for the lathe as HF has no extension to offer. It’s even same red color as the Lathe. By the way this is exactly the same lathe sold by Grizzly , Craftsupply USA, Rockler except the HF Bauer is 1 hp motor where the others are only 3/4 Hp and the Bauer is About 1/2 the $$$$. Stand is also exactly the same as other brands but 1/2 the $$$. The Tool test I have on my pictures is from Rikon and is 12” . Lathe with extension is awesome.
