Description

The Extech 381676A is a Pen Styled Multimeter with a Built in NCV detector. The 381676A features nine functions including AC/DC voltage to 600V, AC/DC Current to 200mA, Resistance, as well as Logic, Diode and Continuity tests. This meter has an easy to use rotary dial with alligator clips for one handed operation. Its convenient built in non-contact voltage detector allows for quick detection of live voltage. The 381676 comes complete with test leads, alligator clips, batteries and manual. From the Manufacturer Pen DMM with Non-Contact Voltage Detector is Auto ranging with rotary dial and features: a large 2000 count high contrast LCD display, Non-Contact Voltage detection with visible and audible alarm, Auto Power off, Data Hold, and Range Hold Functions. It measures AC/DC Voltage, Resistance, Continuity and Diode Test. Comes complete with test lead with alligator clips, two 1.5V AAA batteries, and carrying case.

This is a very useful item, you may not need it every day but you will be glad that you have it to do your basic checks. I will not replace it with a full scale multimeter but the features that it has in a small frame is more than worth it. I normally keeps mine in the car.     • Complete junk, don't expect to get warranty service. Do not buy.
Voltage detector doesn't function at all. Customer support is non-existent, you get the run-a-round between extech and fluke. They tell you to open tickets on various websites, ask for serial numbers, and then no response. 3 hours of effort on my part to warranty a 40 dollar multimeter and still I'm unable to any sort of adequate resolution. ... show more

Some of the criticism here is based on the size and or quality of the meter. It is true that this meter is a bit smaller and more fragile than some, but the features that come with the meter are the same as much more expensive meters. For the price it is a great product. If you want a sturdy field meter, this is not it, but for the bench it is great. Update: I dropped the meter and the tip broke, just like in the other reviews. I pulled it out and epoxied it in the "out" position, and use it every day. I love it and may buy a second. ... show more

Wonderful device. It is perfect for those times when you do not feel like or do not need to hook up your 5,000 to 10,000$ Hewlett-Packard microvolt digital multimeter with 500,000 samples per second data sampling rate. Remember to always use Energizer Lithium batteries in this device, I have never seen that brand of batteries leak and cause damage. I NEVER use Duracell. Bought to use when traveling for service work. Needed something small that would not take up much space but still have the features I needed. Couple suggestions would to remove batteries when traveling. this way if TSA turns on when if inspected the batteries don't get depleted. Have had this happen a couple times. ... show more
