The Exo Terra Moss Ball helps provide crystal clear water and reduce odors. Designed to resemble its natural counterpart, the Exo Terra Moss Ball contains a special absorption resin that helps reduce many of the compounds that encourage unsightly organic matter accumulation. By absorbing and trapping phosphate, nitrite and nitrate within its core, the Exo Terra Moss Ball helps to create ideal conditions for animals and plants and makes aqua-terrarium maintenance easy.Directions: Place Exo Terra Moss Ball in the water part of the terrarium/aqua-terrarium. Depending on the water volume, replace with new Exo Terra Moss Ball every two months for maximum effectiveness.Over the years, Exo Terra has become the market leader in reptile products for the natural terrarium. This achievement was made possible by the philosophy of successful, continuous innovation, which has become a basic underlying commitment, a culture and an attitude. • Great product
Let me start with this ... I've had aquariums since I was a teenager (40+ years) In all those years I have never had a problem with my water parameters and/or cloudy water. I haven't had an aquarium for a couple of years, becuase i was caring for my elderly uncle. About 3 months ago, I decided to go back to having fish. I was constantly checking my water parameters and everything would be off and my water was so cloudy I could barely see my goldfish. I was constantly changing the water and the next day it would be the same thing. The only thing different from now than all those other years is now I'm on city water, before I was on well water. I search on the internet for a solution and I read about these Moss Balls. My first 1 was bought at PetSmart. I couldn't believe the change in my water. Cloudiness is gone and water parameters stay the same, Haven't changed my water in 2 weeks. I can see my Black Moor Goldfish, now. So I bought 2 more, here on Amazon. This is one thing that is going to be in my necessities for my aquariums. It says it is for a 10 to 20 gallon aquarium, but it works perfect in my 29 gallon. ... show more

    • Over a year later
We've had our moss ball for about 6 months or so in our turtles tank. It's nice size. This is the first thing my turtle has not destroyed thankfully.

    • What does it really do?
Can’t answer what it really does. My turtles just wanted to eat it. I have great filtration, oxygenation, biochemistry in my indoor turtle pond. Maybe it helps but I cannot confirm. The product is not expensive so if your tank needs help it’s probably worth a try.

    • Worked super well!!
Review Image by Dylander Dylander
I’ve seen a lot of reviews saying it looks like a teddy bears tail was cut off, but obviously this isn’t real moss. Others say it floats and I have to agree it doesn’t just sink right away, however if you hold it under water and move it around you’ll start to see bubbles and it’ll eventually sink. Patience is key! As far as replicating a moss ball it looks very nice and high quality in my Bettas 9 gallon tank and ended up sitting perfectly on the wood piece decor as shown. Lately the tanks water had been cloudy and I tried everything from water clarifiers to bio capsule water cleaners and non of those worked! I put the moss ball in the tank a few days ago and within 4 days, the water cleared up noticeably better to the point it looked like I had just cleaned it and put fresh water in. Also the smell of fish water has almost entirely gone away too unless I’m standing directly over it. The fact these can stay in for months and help keep the water clear makes this highly worth the money for anybody looking for a moss ball either for decor or for keeping the water clear. ... show more

    • Nice little decoration but doesn’t serve its purpose
Review Image by Amazon Customer Amazon Customer
It’s a nice decorative piece for your tank but does not serve its purpose of water clarity and conditioning and does not float! I’ve had it in for about a week now and it’s still rising to the top of my tank unless held down by something else.

    • It works!
This is the only thing that's worked in keeping the nitrate/nitrite levels to 0 after a week of complete water change in my turtle tank. I've tried many other liquid brands that never made a difference. My Nessie, and I are very happy!

    • GREAT BUY: Friend for fish/Clears up water!!!

Review Image by Jaden Jaden
The media could not be loaded. Noticing that the water in my fishes 10 gallon tank was looking cloudy, I surfed the web for quick solutions and landed on moss balls. After they arrived (earlier than expected!), I popped them into my fishes tank and he loves them. I’ve never seen him so happy before! He plays with them and pushes them around and I’ve noticed that they also clear up the water. Overall, a great buy at a great price. ... show more
