  • Awesome, powerful and quiet GPU
Style: Graphics Card, Ultra
Despite people saying that a RTX 2080 is not a worthy upgrade if you have a GTX 1080, reviews online were not saying that way so I decided to do it. I read a review stating that the Evga XC Ultra was performing as good as the founder edition but with less heat and noise so I ordered it and I could not be happier. This beast can run everything you throw at it without any problem. For instance, my Gigabyte GTX 1080 was having a hard time to go above 90 fps at 2K and ultra settings in Battlefield V but this one runs it at above 120 fps most of the time. If I enable ray tracing and set it at ultra the frame rate drops at 70 fps but it's still very smooth and the images are beautiful. Moreover the card temperature never goes above 65C and is always dead silent even with a more aggressive fan speed curve set in Precision X1. Speaking of Precision X1, I managed to do a decent overclocking with this easy to use software. To be honest I prefer MSI afterburner but to make sure I have the optimal stability I am using the Evga software (for now) and it's pretty good too. The RGB control is also easy with the software and it looks nice in my case (see picture). Of course if someone is struggling to pay his rent I would say stick with your GTX 1080 but if you have the money, a powerful enough CPU and want a substantial fps boost I highly recommend this GPU. ... show more

  • Fast, price is a a little high, well supported under Linux
Style: Graphics Card, Ultra
I purchased this GPU to replace a GTX 980. To keep up with the card, I subsequently upgraded the entire system. I'm running Linux Mint 19.1 with this GPU. I'm not a gamer so the framerate and related features don't matter directly to me. However, I do use the GPU for things like Blender, Lightworks video editing, Tensorflow, and other CUDA workloads. These all work without any complications and are fast. Using a simple face detection demo, this GPU completed in less than half the time as the 980. I didn't expect it would be that much faster because it doesn't have that many more CUDA cores, but I was surprised. Hardware installation was straightforward. Under Linux I think I lose the ability to control the LED colors or something. Software installation took a couple steps and involved disabling the nouveau drivers and enabling the proprietary Nvidia ones. Yes, I'm aware of the controversy about binary blobs, but the speedup and stability versus the nouveau drivers sort of made my choice for me. In any case, developing with CUDA requires NVidia drivers. Blender 3D really takes advantage of those cores. There's a Quake demo that got released today (June 6, 2019) that shows off some of the RTX capabilities. It runs and looks great, but like I said, I'm not a gamer and turned it off after just a couple minutes. ... show more

  • Very VERY fast! Very power efficient. Upgrade now!
Style: Graphics Card, Ultra
If you're looking at a NVIDIA 2080 you may be trying to decide if you should upgrade from your previous graphics card and which version of the 2080 to get, the flashy Ti or Titans are very tempting . I was confused which graphics card to order, since there are so many variants. I think the biggest thing that sold me on EVGA is their upgrade path, the ability to upgrade if a better card comes out on the market in a short time or if you need more performance. I can say without a doubt while accounting the price of this graphics card - it's amazing and very fast. First up the good: This graphics card runs VERY cool , if you're worried about heat these new generation of graphics cards are amazing. If it doesn't need to spin up it won't. In most cases people just are running simple items on their computer like youtube, facebook, email, and website. This card won't create a ton of heat when idle. VERY fast, when you demand the power, this card will be faster than most cards on the market. You can get faster, but it depends how much money you want to spend for an extra 10% performance. Start small and if you notice you need faster just call up EVGA and upgrade! A lot of people over purchase on their computer parts. You can quickly test what you need this way. I wouldn't improve anything, this card is great! Great product overall, and well worth the price! Start your gaming or studio work now! ... show more

  • Absolute Beast
Style: Graphics Card, XC Gaming
I bought this card back in 2019 but I think after running this thing pretty hard every single day I need to review it and give some insight. This thing is an absolute monster. If you want all the frames you can push in any game you play, this card is for you. I run a 1440p 144hz monitor as my main and 2 4K monitors as my second and third monitors and it absolutely handles everything I’ve ever thrown at it. The noise level is minimal, and the performance has been more than perfect. I’ve been playing a few different games recently with an emphasis on Modern Warfare, and I don’t think I’ve ever gone below 130fps in game, even with cluster strikes, precision air strikes, or chopper gunners active on a small map like shipment. It makes ever sports game look surreal and it is an absolute power house of a card and should stay a power house of a card for years to come. This is a really good investment for at least 4-5 years into the future of gaming and will perform admirably. Obviously your experience may change depending on type of motherboard, processor, ram, etc. but if you’re in the market and have the cash, there’s really no other choice besides the more premier cards just above this but performance on those will be negligible. Give it a whirl. ... show more
