At the outset I'll say I wasn't expecting the best quality stethoscope when I purchased this, given the $6.99 price I paid for it. That being said, when I got the item it felt much lighter than I expected. The chrome pieces that go to the ears actually feel like plastic (still can't tell for sure if it actually is or isn't), but they do feel very cheap and light. The rubber tubing is very thin and buckles and crimps when you try to push it onto the ear pieces and head. The head though is metal and the quality of it isn't terrible. Concerning the sound, to me it is VERY faint, although I can hear heartbeats sometimes. The sound is greatly affected by the amount of ambient noise and air movement around you. Overall in my opinion this isn't a very good stethoscope, and if I could do it over I won't buy it again and instead try to find a better quality (albeit almost certainly meaning a more expensive) one. As an aside - for those who are interested in it just for a prop, it does look fairly realistic from a distance. ... show more

Always wanted a stethoscope. I’m not in the medical field, just wanted one to play around with. Used to love the safecrackers using them in the old movies. Electronic locks now, so I’ll never know what the tumblers sound like.
