Description

Keep a close eye on your home around the clock. Receive rich notifications on your iPhone immediately when something is up in your home – and protect the privacy of your personal space in the process. Eve Cam is designed exclusively for Apple HomeKit Secure Video, built from the ground up to keep your data secure. No matter where you are, you get direct and fully encrypted access to Eve Cam thanks to your home hub (Apple TV or HomePod). Live images never reach the cloud, not even iCloud. Recordings are stored securely and fully encrypted in your iCloud. How does Eve Cam detect motion and trigger recordings? Eve Cam features a dedicated infrared motion sensor to trigger motion alerts, automations and recordings. If you have configured people / pet / vehicle recognition, any motion detected by the infrared motion sensor will cause the video footage to be sent to your Apple TV or HomePod to intelligently determine whether your recording criteria is met. Please note that while the infrared motion sensor can "see" in the dark and even when you have turned the video stream off, it can't see through glass. So if there's a glass door to your front porch or there's a window looking out to your patio or yard, Eve Cam won't detect any motion behind it and thus also not trigger notifications, automations or recordings.

  • If you have Apple HomeKit, this is the best choice for an indoor camera
Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
The Eve Cam, like most Eve products, is built especially for Apple HomeKit. You don't need a third-party app or another account for this to work - just scan the code into HomeKit and you are good to go with end-to-end encryption and HomeKit secure video. The Eve Cam comes with a magnetic base and a separate metal plate for mounting to just about any surface (with screws and mounting adhesive included). It also includes an AC adapter that includes AC prongs for international use (unique but not necessary in the US). My only wish is that the cable at the camera end used USB-C instead of a micro-USB plug, but that's nit-picking. Full color resolution is great for almost every application. There may be other cameras with better numbers, but they may not be native to HomeKit or require you to use an additional hub. You have control over the tally light, activity zones, facial recognition, etc. Be aware that the Eve Cam is NOT outdoor rated, so I'd avoid mounting it outside for obvious reasons. It also requires an AC connection (it is not battery powered), further discouraging outdoor use. If you want an outdoor camera, get one that is IP-rated for outdoor use. Also, the Eve Cam does not offer pan and tilt capabilities. There are some other cameras that do, but again, not necessarily compatible with HomeKit. Should you have to reset the camera during installation (not uncommon when using HomeKit), note that the Reset button is shown in VERY TINY type (in black type on the black case) on the back side of the camera case at about the 11 o'clock position. All you need is a paper clip to reach the reset button - press and hold for 10 seconds and you're all set. ... show more

  • Works very well except it’s not 1080P
Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
The night vision works very well. Night vision in this case is actually an infrared sensitive camera and an infrared spectrum flashlight. The camera does not have an image intensifier tube like a night vision scope. No matter, though, because the Eve cam setup works great. NOTE: as the factory information states clearly, night vision does not work through glass so don’t ask. Read the information. Setup is as straightforward as it can be with this so-called “smart” home stuff. The camera has a pretty strong magnetic base if you can find something made of ferrous metal to stick it to. The power cord is long enough. Unit does not have batteries and must be plugged in all the time in order for it to work, just like your TV. The EVE software can be used to flip the image right side up if you want to hang this camera upside down from the ceiling or similar. Camera can swivel up and down, and sideways on it’s little plastic mounting stalk. The EVE camera is NOT made for outdoor use. The manufacturer website states this clearly and also states somewhere the min and max temperatures and humidity this cam can tolerate. It won’t handle below-freezing temperatures. Couple of drawbacks partly due to Apple failing to put enough thought into their Homekit products. First, the cam can use 5G but apple home kit really only works with 2G so what’s the point? Second, cam is called “HD” and I think I saw reference to 1080P somewhere but this is just not true. The resolution is probably about 320P if that. Third, only one person at a time can view the cam image, I think due to programming mistakes on Apple’s part. If you are viewing the cam image on your phone, another family member cannot view the cam image on his/her phone until you stop. They will get an error message about only one user at a time being allowed. For this price point, the Eve cam does work well. The motion sensing is very reliable and can be used to switch a security light on or other electrical “smart” device. The ability to record or not is nice too. This cam does not have a zoom or variable focus and you cannot tilt and pan remotely like you can on some fancy web cams. No matter, the Eve cam is pretty nice for basic home security. The night vision image almost seems clearer than the normal image. NOTE: I’ve heard recently that Eve might roll out an outdoor version and maybe you want to wait for that. This camera is hardware version 1.0, which is never a good thing as far as mistakes, defects, and bugs, but it still works quite well for something that is just barely past the test phase and into production. If you want a night vision security camera for indoors, or maybe sheltered outdoors if you live in a very mild and fairly dry climate, then you should feel confident about going ahead and buying this camera now instead of worrying about waiting for the next version. ... show more

  • Great camera. When it works.
Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
We have three of these cams. First was so easy to setup we got two more. Second one didn’t setup easily and required a reset. Third one required a couple of hours on Internet to setup. This works well when it works. It integrates with Apple HomeKit very well once you set it up. There are two problems. One is it will decide to take itself offline with no rhyme or reason. And then will come back online by itself it’s no rhyme or reason. The second is the camera indicator light. No matter what you do, the camera indicator light turns itself back on. You can’t turn it off. So if you want it for example as a nanny cam, your nanny will know when it comes on to stream or record. Again no rhyme or reason. You will turn the indicator light off and next day. Bam. Glaring bright indicator light turns off ignoring your command. Otherwise it is one of the best HomeKit integrations out there. Hoping that future updates will fix the spontaneous taking off line issue and the possessed indicator light issue. ... show more
