  • Great for college dorm
Purchased two for the basement and another for a college dorm. Found that the tank filled more quickly when the dehumidifier was placed directly on the floor. I’m guessing that the humidity is higher closer to the floor. I clean the tank with a little vinegar., easy to clean. Good value for the cost. ... show more

  • Not a good fit, but still a good product
This little dehumidifier is darling. A couple things to be aware of: 1) Most dehumidifiers only work between 60 to 90 degrees ambient temperature. This won't work in a cooler space (because the condensation coils will freeze up). 2) This did raise the temperature of the storage bin I had it in quite a bit. So be aware that they can add some heat if using for long periods of time. 3) This won't get humidity lower than 30%. I was only able to get the humidity down from 40% to 33% after running for 6 hours in a closed storage bin. Within the last 3 hours, the humidity remained stable. And when I removed the unit from the bin at the end, there was absolutely no water in the reservoir. Personally, I needed this for bringing a small space to lower than 20% humidity. So the test I ran consisted of having a hygrometer in a plastic bin with the unit, trying to get humidity down for a desert beetle enclosure (the size of a large critter keeper). After doing further research, dehumidifiers can't really achieve such low humidity. So, for such a specific use, I've found that large dessicate packs work much better. They won't reach 20% in our house (because the ambient humidity stays around 50% and the beetles need fresh air), but they do get to 27% consistently. I realize this is an odd use, but hopefully the info above will be helpful for others. Considering that the space was fairly dry when I started, it isn't surprising that it didn't pull any water. I'd expect it would work beautifully in a bathroom or other room where humidity gets really high and there's more water to pull from the air. Also, people talk about noise. I've already repackaged the unit to send back, but honestly, the sound isn't loud or unpleasant. I'd put it on the same scale as something like a personal fan or a ceramic space heater. It's very consistent. So it would be easy to block out if running it nearby while sleeping. ... show more

  • noticeably better than 1100 model
I had used the Eva-dry 1100 model for my closet for years, it was/is great model and worked for keeping the occasional winter/spring humidity from making my clothes musty in northern California. I recently moved had to use the 1100 for my closet in a spare room instead, where I keep one of my cat’s litter boxes: this closet is adjacent to the laundry room, and it was much more humid and caused mold issues with my walnut-based clumping cat litter. The 1100 worked alright to help (most mold issues resolved, still occasional small bits of mold) but one day a power surge/power outage shorted out that dehumidifier and it broke! I was sad, but curious to see what other models existed and found the 1200 (this one) I noticed an immediate improvement from the 1100 in terms of ability to collect water! where as before I was emptying the reservoir maybe every other week, with the 1200 I empty it once a week, and have had zero issues with mold. The design of the 1200 is much better: dust used to collect and clog the air intake of the 1100, this model has a much more open intake on the top, and perhaps even a stronger fan. It’s marginally louder than the 1100 but not annoying. It’s about the same footprint as the 1100 but is larger vertically (taller), it holds more water in the reservoir, and has an aesthetically pleasing design. Works great to keep the closet relatively low humidity and prevents mold/mustiness! Would recommend. ... show more

  • I am not sure about these drought headlines I keep seeing
Because holy hell this thing is pulling so much water out of my air! For context I am a college student living in a cheaply made townhouse. My room has a bathroom within it and no window in the bathroom (genius design there). Fortunately at this price point and size, this device was perfect. I hide it behind my guitar which is next to my bedside table. So the noise is muffled a little bit. But within 24 hours which included two showers and mouth breathing, this thing filled up a good amount as you can see in the photo. I like this thing a lot because it clearly is working. My only concern and why it isn't a 5-star review is I do not understand why there is all of this black stuff on the inside where the water tank goes. It also is on top of the tank. I am no humidifier scientist. It would be nice to hear back from the company or other customers because there is no way my air is that dirty. We smoke our pot outside!! haha just kidding. But seriously, why is the dirt coming up? Outside of that though this thing works like a charm, if you're in college, highly recommend. ... show more

  • Faulty Units - Terrible Customer Service
I should’ve trusted the reviews (and I recommend you do the same)… I got this up and running in minutes and it worked great in a tiny bathroom - I mean, it was fantastic for 4 days! And then it wasn’t. I had emptied it once in the first few days, with zero issues, but on day 4 it started flashing blue. I read the manual (which claims it’ll blink yellow when full) and emptied it (wasn’t even half full). Turned it back on and it kept flashing. The fan didn’t start. I read the manual, no help. I took it apart, cleaned it, dried it, reassembled it, turned it on…blue light flashing. I tried discharging it and everything else under the sun, but it persists with the flashing light of what I can only assume is death. I even emailed the company from the manual (use Amazon contact, folks, they have to answer in 24-hours) on the (March) 25th - they only responded today (April 4th) wanting me to provide details and a receipt before they will register the unit. They won’t assist you until you register it. I didn’t want to register it, I just wanted to save them a bad review and a hit to their metrics by giving them a chance to help me get it working again. Their customer service is pitiful. I liked it when it worked…too bad. Back to Amazon it goes! ... show more
