Just before the one year warranty was about to expire the hinge in the shovel assembly broke. See photos. I called their 800 number but they no longer answer the number to "protect their employees." So I wrote to their support email address and was advised they would replace the "ice box." After over a week I contacted support again and they said that parts need to be shipped from China and it would be another week. Finally I got a tracking number but they did not deliver a replacement "ice box" as promised but instead just the shovel assembly part. It came with no installation instructions. I managed to jimmy the old shovel assembly out and with considerable difficulty installed the replacement, injuring my hand in the process. Good news is I now have a functioning ice maker again. Otherwise the machine works well for now. It gets a lot of use every day. It remains to be seen how much longer it will last as it is now out of warranty. ... show more

    • It does make ice
It's first batch of ice is quick however only a few small pieces. After that the ice is larger and consistent. Since the ice is formed over a tube it is bullet shaped with a hole in the center. It works great and makes a fair amount in a short time. However you have to keep adding water, it tells you when it's empty it also tells when the ice basket is full. We don't wait for either notification the sooner you empty the basket the longer the ice lasts. Keeping it full of water before it tells you the better it works. My house burned down and I'm living in a trailer, it makes ice faster than the trailer freezer. Been using it daily for 3 weeks so far so good, we don't run it over night, we'd have to keep adding water and emptying ice. ... show more

    • Almost a year running 24/7 and still no issues, here's how to clean it properly

It makes ice, it is easy to clean with the built in self cleaning function, it has run for over 9 months 24/7 and not faltered once. I'm not going to bother going into details on how great it is at making ice, it makes ice and does it well, as expected. Noisier than my fridge, but still very quiet. I'll just add that for the self cleaning you may want some more details, so here you go: Move the machine so the front is hanging over your sink and pull the drain plug out to let all the water out, empty the ice bucket, remove the ice bucket, scoop, and small filter at the bottom of the tank (left side.) Reinstall the drain plug, add half a cup bleach to the tank, fill the tank the rest of the way with HOT water till it can't hold any more (yes, that means going above the max fill line all the way to the top of the tank) then hold the power button for five seconds till the Add Water light starts flashing. This is the self cleaning cycle, let it run for half an hour. Come back and pull the drain plug out, let all the nastyness drain out into your sink, replace the drain plug, refill to the top with clean HOT water, run the cleaning cycle one more time. After half an hour drain the machine, reinstall the filter and ice basket (that should have been cleaned by hand/with dishwasher) and refill with water to the max line. That is how you do a true deep clean of most countertop ice makers that all look very similar on Amazon (because they're all rebranded versions of the same thing.) To answer what will probably be the most common question; no, my ice does not smell or taste like bleach. I live in a house of five people and none have any complaints. I purchased this unit several days ago and I have to say, that I like this machine. Makes ice, takes up little space and isnt loud. Box is nice, the packing is nice, if feels like a quality product. (Heavy and not cheap) My only complaint is the instruction manual is a joke. The manual will not help you to set up, run, or clean the machine. Completely useless manual. And there is no, water level fill line, so you just have to wing it. Set up requires you to have common sense, because you are on your own. Still, I like it and I think it was a good buy. EDIT: Im reading people giving advice of using bleach to clean this. NO! I used to work on professional Ice machines for restaurants. When we clean an ice machine, we remove the covers, we spray and wipe down the plastic parts, then we run a cleaning cycle using a "special Ice machine cleaner." We never use bleach because it damages the ice machines. Amazon sells small bottles of Ice Machine Cleaner and its not expensive. Here is how you clean THIS unit. drain the water, wipe down the basket and the tank under the basket, to remove the slime. Add the ice machine cleaner/water, press and hold power button for five seconds to start the self cleaning cycle. When the cycle ends, drain the cleaner, add new water and run the cleaning cycle again to rinse the cleaner out. Drain the rinse water and you're done. Cleaner isnt toxic like bleach is, so you dont have to rinse it 5 times and its safe for ice machines. ... show more

Nothing special. It makes cubes. It would be nice if it had setting for small and large cubes. Also a bit noisy especially if water runs low. It runs and runs trying to suck up water. My last unit went into a pause mode after 2 unsuccessful attempts. This thing makes you Baby sit. I would have given a 2 Star but for the low price. ... show more

Worked good when it worked. Purchased June 22, started having problems in Jan 23, lite stated to add water, it was full of water. Called manufacturer as they stated 12 month warranty. Representative said to contact retailer "Amazon", Amazon said it was past their return window. Ok, not Amazons fault. Purchas price was 89 bucks, checked recently it is now 40 bucks. Not going to do the back and forth deal as my time is worth money. From other reviews with one star, half of them stated it quit within the 12 months, most 5 star just stated it worked well and they liked it, but they never mentioned how long they had it. So, going to bite the bullet and order a different one as for 89 bucks should last longer than 7 months. Buy at your own risk. Update, The company refunded the purchase price. So that is a BIG plus for those that want to continue to purchase. ... show more
