Okay, taking the keypad off the body of the lock does avoid removing the original outside cylinder lock. Good. On the inside, the housing is unnecessarily tall. Get this down under most of the “trade typical” installs, so that anything above the deadbolt (e.g. a second deadbolt) won’t interfere. I had to rasp away just 1/4” of plastic, but you know. Just fix it. One fairly important thing odds that the fingerprint sensor won’t read if you actually press on it. Wierd. My son naturally PRESSED on the “button” (sensor) and no go. My daughter only TOUCHED the sensor and bingo! Now we know! Again. One tweak away from delighting the customer. Finally, I feel like somebody smart is going to use the exposed reset on the outside keypad box. I don’t know how. I just bet that the lock software isn’t secured against a factory reset on the Bluetooth keypad. Dunno. Just a hunch. ... show more

I bought the Eufy R20 (fingerprint option) as an upgrade to my current lock. Worked really well especially living in an apartment. I've been in the market researching for what locks I can use without changing the locks and the only ones that really came up was the August and Wyze. When I found out about the R10/R20, I was really excited (as a lot of reviews said good things about Eufy products - being budget friendly but good). The main reason to have the lock is for my anxiety where I can check and make sure that my door lock is indeed, locked. And for that purpose it works really well. I used an adjustable video doorbell mount for the keypad (bought on Amazon, coolwufan or something) However some minor issues. (1) I bought the fingerprint version of this lock to make it easier to open (more expensive than just the keypad) , but the fingerprint scanner is a hit or miss. It often fails and we have to angle or rotate our thumbs to unlock the door. And yes, I added my own fingers multiple times. Also happens to other people in the family. I wish I didn't buy this version since it was more expensive. (2) While the lock/unlock notification is wonderful and work extremely well for every lock and unlock, when you check the status of the lock from the app, 80% of the time, it always shows unlocked (not syncing). I either have to keep refreshing it or restarting the app. Eventually, I end up opening my camera facing the door to check (yes, I have also one in front of the door because of my anxiety). (3) The auto lock feature is also hit or miss. I wish the lock actually knew when the door is open, because when the auto lock feature does work (on occasion) , coincidentally it does when the door is open (yes I already calibrated a number of times). I know some smart locks have another add on where you attach it to the door so it knows if the door is open or not (both August and Wyze has this, I believe). But anyway that's not a feature I care much about. Other than that, it's really worked wonders and doesn't take away from the overall experience. Though I would have wished everything works perfectly, but that's of course too much to ask. I'm still very glad I found this smart lock right on time, as I was already about to buy either the August lock (very expensive) or Wyze (cheap, but I already have a lot of wyze products and I don't really care for them to be honest and that's saying a lot because I have a subscription with them for my cameras). I'm adding a lot of pictures, because when I was making a decision, I couldn't find any pics of this product from other customers. And I had a ton of questions about dimensions and what not.     • Decent item for a retrofit

While I've ordered two of these new. One of them came clearly used and sent back. Some other words of caution though. The stock batteries for the internal locking unit are a non-standard size. While the unit is slim on the door. That does mean that it will not completely cover the back of where the original deadbolt locking "handle" was. So you'll probably need to fill in and paint around it. The internal door locking mechanism. You just pressure clips to hold itself in place. Only it provides holding in place at the bottom. Leaving the top of the unit feeling loose and pulled away from the door. They do come with 3M tape to try to help compensate for this. But if you use the 3M tape you can't easily take it back off. The last thing I'll cost you on is the, auto unlocking via distance or radius. This radius is huge. And in no way uses Bluetooth to limit the distance. It requires your phone iOS only at this point. To use your location to determine whether or not it needs to unlock the door. This leads to issues where you are near your house by several streets and yet the door will want to unlock. The door does have an auto lock feature. But that auto lock only works at the door has been open past a certain angle. Which means that if your door auto unlocks due to radius it will not auto re unlock because nobody actually opened the door. The units are easily installable and come with many different retrofitting options to make sure they work with just about any deadbolt. The adapter plate is simple enough to align and tighten down. And the numpad/finger reader are easy enough to affix to any surface. ... show more
