Great filament for skulls and skeletons

I found a 3D model for an interesting skull so naturally I wanted to print it out. A small test print with white filament came out great but the color just wasn't right. Does anyone make a bone-colored PLA filament? Of course they do. I'm not the first weirdo to 3D print a skull after all. A minute of searching brought up this spool from eSUN, and after a few clicks, it was on its way to me. I've used eSUN PLA before and, while I prefer Elegoo by a very narrow margin, eSUN has given me good results. I was a little worried because the skull I was printing would have to be done in 2 parts (skull and mandible), and the main part was a 23 hour print. Plenty of time for something to go wrong. Bambu has a preset for eSUN PLA+ so that's what I used. After slicing, loading the spool, and hitting the print button, I crossed my fingers and walked away. I checked on it again in the morning (12 hours later) and so far everything looked good. Layer lines were visible but not too prominent. Since I was using a 0.4mm nozzle, I didn't expect the lines to disappear. There was a slight gloss to the print. I would have preferred a matte finish to simulate bone porosity, but since I didn't specify a matte filament, I was neither surprised nor disappointed. At the end of 23 hours, the skull was waiting on the build plate. It looked exceptional, without so much as a stray filament, void, or other defect that I could see. The support material (there was quite a bit of it) broke away without much fuss and I was left with something that, from a few feet away, could pass for a skull. Adhesion was just right. The part never shifted during the print but was relatively easy to remove from the build plate once everything had cooled. I did use a little hairspray as an adhesion promoter-- I wasn't taking any chances-- but I doubt that I actually needed it. The mandible was a much easier print (only about 6 hours) and it came off without a hitch. After years of dealing with finicky 3D printers and filaments that would only print correctly about half the time, I was floored that I could walk away for an entire day without looking over my shoulder once and come back to a completed print. I usually pay $10-$12 a spool for garden variety PLA. This spool was slightly pricier at $18, but it is a specialty filament and the price is quite reasonable for the quality and appearance that you get. Reliable PLA+ Filament with Great Print Quality

I’ve had consistently good results with eSUN PLA+ filament. The filament feeds smoothly, prints cleanly, and produces good layer adhesion without requiring much tweaking to my printer settings. I experienced very few issues with stringing or clogging, which made longer prints much less stressful. The spool was wound neatly, helping to prevent tangles during printing. I was also happy with the color—it printed true to what I expected and gave finished projects a nice, professional appearance. I love this filament.. it extrudes very well, The quality is better than I was expecting it to be and I have not had any issues with stringing and no clogging. I do dry all my filament before printing so I can't speak to how it is before drying. Great quality so far. Good adhesion and looks good. Works very well for mini flexi's. One thing I will note that it's a Good chance if your kid leaves them lying on the floor in a dark room you may mistake it for your pup having an accident 😂 very Brown! Brilliant Color and Excellent Print Accuracy

Solid value-for-price filament

I'm finding eSun to be a respectable filament for the price. I used this particular role to print fidget trees. The color is striking--exactly what I was after. I pulled a star because this was the first filament I've encountered in five years of 3D printing that was "damp." Since I don't have a filament dryer (haven't needed one until now), I tried my best to clean up the "spider webbing" the resulted from printing the exterior parts of the trees. Be sure to use at least 70°C for the bed temperature to ensure good adhesion. I had three failed prints at 60°C before figuring that one out. They kept separating from the bed halfway through. Great for printing lithophanes!

Cardboard Spools Ruined the Product

Modern 3D printers that have automatic material feeders/MMU/AMS/etc don't work well and can be damaged by dust created by inferior cardboard spools. No manufacturer that switches to cardboard spools offer a 5-star product in today's world of high-end 3D printers. I actually love eSun filament and have purchased their products almost exclusively in the past. However, their move to cardboard spools ruins their product for me, as those spools are damaging to my printer's AMS system at worst and at best are a pain requiring extra steps and time to deal with. Sure, I can print special attachments to place on the spool that are supposed to help, but those attachments can cause fitment issues within my spool feeders and it does not solve the problem of the dust created by the spools which can mess up the system in the first place. And then there's the cost of time and filament needed to screw around with those attachments. So then, my option is to build a rewinder to transfer filament from the cardboard spool to an old plastic spool that I saved. I did this, but it's still a pain to deal with and still costs time and filament and it's not the same of having a spool that is tightly-wound from the manufacturer. Tangles can happen. All of this is unacceptable and until eSun gets their act together on this, I will no longer be purchasing their filament. Again, I really, really like the filament itself, still today, but their move to exclusively cardboard spools without additional choice from the consumer offsets the quality of their product to the point of losing me as a once loyal customer. Here's a suggestion for eSun, if you read these reviews: Give the consumer choice between a cardboard spool and a plastic spool. Those of us with high-end printers need your old spools. Failing that, offer plastic re-usable spools and alongside that, offer rolls of filament that can easily be loaded onto those spools. And alongside that, release *.3mf/*.stl/*.STEP files for consumers to print reusable spools at home. This suggestion would satisfy ecological desires to use cardboard spools instead of plastic while simultaneously meeting the needs of customers with high-end printers sensitive to cardboard dust and the lack of usability of cardboard in their equipment. Do this, at a fair price, and you'll earn my business back once again. I really do love the filament itself. At least one of your competitors offers this solution. Refill spools are less than purchasing filament on a plastic reusable spool. All of their spools are plastic and reusable. I'm happy to purchase refills at a discount and easily and quickly load them onto said reusable spool. I'll be purchasing their products from now on until eSun steps into modern times. I find their filament to be less desirable, however the entire process is superior, so that wins out. But the cardboard spools are absolutely hideous to deal with. I miss the plastic spools. Their move to cardboard with no regard to high-end printers or consumer choice is a huge disappointment. EDIT: As it turns out, they do actually offer refill spools for a *limited* number of their colors, and they do offer a refillable spool. However, the refills are only offered for a few colors in PLA+ and their spools are a whopping $10 each. That is an insane price for a refill spool. Granted, if you can figure out the dimensions of their refill spools, you can just print your own for substantially less, but $10 is highway robbery.
