I read the reviews prior to purchasing this umbrella. The most accurate is the description on how tough it is to get the umbrella to latch at the top. You definitely need to apply pressure. The next one I tested was based on reviews stating the umbrellas wouldn’t go back in its tote. I’ve put it back in multiple times. It’s fine. It takes some patience when you are first putting it into the tote, but it slides right in as soon as you get the prongs all in it will smoothly slide and latch. I took this to Disney. It is 89 degrees and feels like 91 with 68% humidity. This umbrella is a saving grace. I felt odd at first holding it up, thinking I would be the only one and it would be an eye sore, but I quickly realized many other people had the same thought. Throughout the day I saw more and more people buying the more sheer umbrellas from Disney in hopes on some shade. I was so thankful for the UV protection, light weight, and durability of this umbrella. It was small enough to fit in the 16 oz water bottle pocket of my backpack (cannot fit anything bigger than 16 oz bottle). It is worth every penny. It’s also super adorable. Okay, well I ordered one and thought it was going to work for me but I couldn't get it to lock in its open position. So I asked for an exchange. The replacement arrived THE NEXT DAY!. Wow. But then I couldn't get it to lock open either. Ugh. A friend was playing around with it trying to get it to work and she finally figure it out. So, I'm keeping both, paying for both and giving one to her. She really liked it. SO HERE IS THE SECRETE: Look at the close up of the release button/clear plastic slider. I was pushing on the release button as I pushed the umbrella open, thinking it would click and then I'd release the button and it would be open. That's how my other umbrellas work. Not this one. Press on the clear plastic sides as you push it open, and push hard, and it will finally engage. One of the two I got is a little easier than the other. My friend kept the hardest one. So, it takes major pressure to get it to lock open, but it does work if you keep your fingers off the button and press on the clear sides of the slider. Good luck! The color is true. It is small enough to fit in the water bottle slot of my purse, but it is big enough to keep the sun off me at Saturday Market, or wherever I have to be in the hot sun longer than my Scottish skin would like. :) I'm not going to say I love it, but it is pleasant enough and is satisfactory. ... show more

I gave this four stars because overall it is great and works well, however, it is very hard to get the strap around it and snapped. The cover is so tight I gave up trying to get it back on and didn't use it again.

I purchased the white umbrella with flowers and the gold handle. It's a beautiful umbrella. The reason I am only giving it 3 stars is because the gold handle is pretty, but it's thin. Making it hard to hold. I'm 5"4, 115 lbs. I have smallish hands. I'm a size 5 ring finger. If I have a hard time holding it, someone with larger hands will have harder time. I had to wrap with a small cloth so there was something to grip onto. And it's also a little hard to get open. I purchased it for sunshade while walking. I will have to purchase a different umbrella with a more comfortable handle for that. The only reason I kept this umbrella was because for the price, it really is pretty. I noted previous reviews about the difficulty locking the umbrella. It's true but workable. Just takes some patience. Be aware that you have to carefully fold the layers to put it in its sleeve. I received so many compliments the first time I used it at the fair! Loved the safety from the hot sun! Very pretty too! ... show more
