This yarn ball winder is a life saver. When you have a mess of yarn or if you would rather make what you have into balls, this is a great tool. I found that there is a learning curve to using it, but once you have it down, the tool is very fun to use. First, make sure that you secure it tightly to a desk or table. I had a desk mousepad under it, but this made it slide off, so make sure that you can secure it, so it doesn't pop off while you're working with it. Second, hold the string to provide a little bit of tension as you wind the string. If you don't, the string will flap around, and your ball of yarn will not form well. Third, include your helpers for a fun session of winding. I have a young cat that always wants to be in the middle of whatever I am doing. Although I won't let him eat the string, I enjoy having him be a part of whatever I am doing. This ball winder would make a great gift for anyone who works with yarn.

The Essovee Yarn Ball Winder combo set is a nice surprise and a helpful addition to my crafting setup. The winder is easy to put together and use. I really appreciate how small and lightweight it is. It doesn’t take up much space and can be clamped securely onto a table or countertop. Once you get the rhythm down, winding yarn into neat, center-pull cakes is smooth and fairly quick. I was also impressed with the bonus items included, especially the assortment of stitch markers, scissors, U-shaped needles, and knitting needles. While these extras aren’t professional-grade, they work well for hobbyists or beginners. The storage case helps keep everything organized and in one place, which is a big plus. One of the best features of this winder is how quiet it is during use. It doesn’t squeak or grind, which makes longer winding sessions more enjoyable. The only reason I’m giving four stars instead of five is that the yarn guide arm can come loose if you're winding a particularly heavy skein or going too fast. A little extra support there would make this a perfect five-star tool. Overall, this set offers great value for the price. It makes a thoughtful gift or a useful investment for anyone interested in knitting or crocheting.

My 17 year old daughter and I are avid crocheters and when I saw this adorable pink and white yarn ball winder, that incidently matches her room aesthetic, I saw an opportunity to get MINE back from HER desk. She loved all the accessories that came with it! It comes with both large and small stitch markers, knitting needles, U shaped knitting needles, and scissors. Installation was quick and easy, and should accommodate a wide variety of surfaces, such as most desks, counters, and tables. The ball winder seems durable and like it will hold up to a lot of use and the crank turns nice and smoothly. Using a 4 medium worsted weight yarn, we were able to create a 4 inch yarn cake in a couple minutes! The cakes wind nice and well formed with only "light" tension on the yarn. The stitch markers and knitting needles are made of plastic and seem sturdy enough for repeat use. The scissors work better than I expected, however, I did notice they seem to only be sharp enough to really cut well, at the tips of the blades. Since I truly wanted this set for the winder itself, I am NOT disappointed in it's quality! It's well made and winds yarn like a dream! And the best part...my DAUGHTER loves it! I would recommend this set to any crocheter!

A lot of higher quality and hand-spun yarns come as large loops, rather than as skeins or balls that are easy to use, and this is the answer to that. Pair it with a swift to hold the yarn and turn the handle and you'll get lovely balls of yarn that you can pull from the middle (i.e. purge). This particular winder is a good price and does exactly what you expect, plus comes with some handy extras (I never have enough stitch counters).

The media could not be loaded. So easy to use! My video is a little bit hectic lol but I wanted to show you how easy it is to use. I rewound the yarn holding it taught in my hand and it came out beautifully. This is an amazing product for organization! I have a plethora of yarn that I seem to hoard and this little winder is going to get me on track to (hopefully) being able to fit two large bins of hand wrapped yarn into one! I was shocked at how many cute accessories came with it, too. Definitely worth every penny, if you ask me.
