This really is one of the best radars on the market, with the app you are able to customize just about everything you could want out of it tones, display, and several other parameters. Highly recommend after having cobras and other common brands they just don’t cut it. My only complaint would be that in really flat country it can pick up a detection up to 10 miles away! Which doesn’t sound bad but after 8 miles you begin to think it was a misread but it wasn’t, not that misreads are uncommon but you have to be careful haha ... show more

    • Would give it 4.5 Stars good but the app needs work
Overall this is one of the better Radar detectors out there. •The WiFi feature is convenient for downloading the weekly updates without hooking up to a computer. •The detector is very good at filtering out unwanted signal. This detector is known for being one of the best available on the market in that category. The weekly updates released by the manufacturer really give them an edge when a new vehicle comes out. •The magnetic mount is awesome. I purchased a magnetic mirror mount to mount my device but the sticky cup mount also did a great job. •The Escort live app is a necessary step to provide defense against laser in areas where laser jammers are illegal. Overall it adds on value to the device and it was the determining factor for me to purchase this model over the R3 made by their competitor. Cons: The escort live app Is a brilliant idea, but it needs a lot of work from a user interface perspective. •I wish I could route navigation through the app and I wish the app was smart enough to detect that I’m on the highway or whatever road I’m on. For example the app will notify you of a red light camera or a speed camera on a road that you’re approaching but not driving on. A simple fix would be to enter an address for your place of work and then have a button to click for your drive to work or home. •In addition the app needs to develop a classification system for “live radar alerts”; there is nothing like cruising along the highway and then you hear “WARNING LIVE RADAR AHEAD” only to find out this is something that happened 4 hours ago. I think it should stop alerting you after an hour of age and it should just save the location into a database for mapping of police hot zones (a simple color coded map outline around the map would be sufficient). •The radar detector is on the expensive side but offers a lot of features. I think the escort live app should be free to owners of models that communicate data to the database since they are the most valuable piece of the application. I still use Waze, the large database of users provides superior police notification in populated areas. ... show more

    • There's a problem with the SMART cord
I'm very disappointed that such a high price unit just up and quit working....like a fuse blew in the SMART cord, but there is no fuse. However, even though my warranty expired over a year ago, Customer Support is sending me a replacement free of charge.

Great product. Almost no false alarms. Good range. Remembers hot spots for speed traps and safety signals. I usually buy the middle tier of detectors and as an enthusiastic driver am seldom disappointed. If you're looking at the $600+ models, just know this detector will do everything you want it to better than the $250 ones but without the unnecessary frills of the premiums ... show more

    • It Replaced the best detector ever made, the Passport Escort 9500 IX
I enjoyed my 9500 IX, until the GPS started to fail. I made a mistake thinking the Uniden R3 was what everyone claimed. The R3 is great at picking up every signal, even false ones. It has no range to warn you & you cant figure out which of the 3 + signals are the real threat. There was no possible way to get it set up correctly. As far as the models with arrows, it's the same as looking at the signals. If it goes beep, you need to slow down. I could care less, where the threat is. If it's in front,rear or on the side, it's pointed at you. I do care however of being alerted to the actual threat signals & having plenty of time to react. The IXc does that perfectly.     • ZERO service or warranty help, device failed in under a year
This Escort's face, the whole front, came off while driving and exposed the wiring / chips. I contacted Escort via phone, via email, and web-form. Zero response, 5 months later and still no response. Complete waste of money on this device, and I have not been able to even get a response! It was under a year when the product failed, should have been covered completely by the stated warranty, but again NO RESPONSE from Escort despite my multiple attempts. Choose a different manufacturer who will stand behind their products! ... show more
