This mag mount is very strong when it sticks but I think it may have two problems that limit its useful lifespan. I live in Florida, and leaving the mount on the windshield when I park somewhere for a while often gets it hot enough to fall off the glass. I think over time this heat weakens the rubber/silicone material. When mine broke apart, I could see that the suction cup passed through the metal plate via a series of tiny openings, so there is a ring of narrow points holding it all together. Hopefully this version has been improved as I think these tiny connectors contributed to the suction cup breaking. Otherwise this is very strong: you definitely don't want to try to remove the cup without flipping the pressure switch down, the pressure switch really makes a strong suction when you flip it up after pushing the mount against the glass, and the magnets are strong enough that only when I hit something really hard like a pothole or bump will the radar detector dump in my lap (but that has happened a few times). I do prefer this to the old spring-lock that would click into place and eventually wear out requiring the radar detector get mailed in to have a new body. I bought two, and now I'll always stash the mount in the glovebox, then keep the spare indoors so it doesn't wear down in the heat. ... show more
