  • Eats Ink and Drops Connection
Style: XP-7100
I use this for home printing. After having it for a month I cannot begin to truly describe how disappointed I am in this product. To be fair, print quality was good and the touch screen is OK. But it uses ink at an unbelievable rate - 10 pages (8.5X11 in document) full color page and it blew through 2 yellow cartridges, 1.5 magenta cartridges and half the large black cartridge. In addition to the ink issues, I have a huge problem with it not "finding the network" even though it shows that it is connected and that signal strength is excellent. I had to re-install drivers 3 times. The third time seemed to help. For some reason, the problem seems to happen more frequently when printing a PDF. And I have not been able to successfully print from Photoshop yet. My previous Epson small home printer was a jewel but gave up the ghost after nearly 10 years of service. That influenced my decision to go back with Epson. At this point is it back to the drawing board and further reviews. I would not recommend anyone buying this particular product but because of previous good experiences with Epson I would be willing to explore other printers they manufacture. ... show more

  • A good petite printer
Style: XP-6100
I bought this printer for my elderly mother. She just needed something basic. But the biggest criteria was that it needed to be narrow enough to fit on a shelf in her tv cabinet. This was the smallest one we could find, and it fits perfectly. It connected easily to WiFi. It also had to have a phone app to print from the phone, which this does, and it works. It works fine for simple document copying, and printing. And it’s done ok printing a few snapshots. It has a special paper try for photo paper. ... show more

  • WOW
Style: XP-6100
Two years ago I looked for a single function printer. The only one I could find was a Canon G5020 and bought it. A BIG Mistake! It was a nightmare to print anything. The WiFi never worked well. Bought a USB direct connect cable. It worked for two weeks and just quit working at all. So I found and bought the Epson XP. For the price it's the best printer I've owned. And the scan functions have options that will work great for me! User functions are straight forward. Quality is just plain great. Thank you Epson for a great printer at a great price!! ... show more

  • The trays on this model will drive you crazy!
Style: XP-7100
Had a Epson WF 3520 for years and was very happy with it. Unfortunately the WF stopped working and decided to get a new one. Have had this printer for about three months and have hated it from day one. The print quality is very good, especially the photos but the trays are awful. First, everything is black which makes it very hard to see what you are doing. The three trays are flimsy and are stacked on top of each other which makes reinserting them extremely difficult. The paper trays holds a quarter inch of paper so you are constantly having to refill the tray. The part that keeps the paper from falling on the floor is constantly in the way when trying to insert the tray and with it being so flimsy also afraid you're going to break something. I was going to also complain about the constant (daily) firmware updates that prevent you from printing unless you tell it to do something but found a YouTube that gave directions on preventing that. Bottom line I would not recommend this printer to anyone. ... show more

  • This Printer Is Garbage and Scams You On Ink
Style: XP-7100
Bought this printer in Feb just to have at home. Printed 20 sheets of paper with it and the black ink cartridge already "ran out". Changed the black cartridge this morning, printed 2 sheets of paper, and look how low the ink cartridge already is (pic attached)...Also, the color ink being that low?? I DON'T THINK I EVEN PRINTED ANYTHING WITH COLOR ON IT. This printer is garbage. It doesn't even work half the time. When I turn it on, it just makes noises for 20 minutes and I need to unplug it and plug it back in, and eventually it quiets down and will print. Wifi connection is totally unreliable, also seems to only work if I unplug it and plug it back in. Absolutely not worth the money I spent on it or the ink, what a hassle, what a waste. ... show more

  • XP6100 is fine for low volume work
Style: XP-6100
My daughter needed a printer for college that could handle low volume color work. The Epson XP6100 fits the bill for those needs. Let me begin by mentioning what we don’t use it for. We haven’t tried the scanner feature or printing photos. I know that many buyers are interested in those features, but I have no advice to give there. To begin, we needed a wireless, small, color printer. The Epson hits all those marks. It has a small enough footprint to fit on a dorm desk without taking up too much space and weight is certainly not an issue. Print quality is fine for what she needs. Colors are sharp and printing is readable. I’ll always be a laser fan, but I don’t go blind trying to read output from this. Setup was very easy; ink cartridges snap into place effortlessly. These days you need a printer to which you can send jobs from various devices and we’ve had no problem with that with or without wireless. At home the printer connected to our network easily (with the exception of having to enter the password on the small screen input panel). But, since her dormitory does not allow wireless access for printers, we were glad that Epson’s wireless direct allows any phone, iPad, or computer to send a print job directly and it works wonderfully. There are a few negatives with the Epson as well. The input screen is not a touch screen, so you have to navigate with buttons (that’s why it’s so hard to type in a password). In creating a small footprint, Epson had to tuck away the paper trays. The front panel is comprised of two hinged sections. To load paper (separate trays for standard size and photo size) you fold down the bottom of the panel, pull out the paper tray, load and push in. When printing, you fold up the top of the panel, pull out the output tray and then print. This tray system works fine - it just struck me as strange having never seen it before. It also will take only Epson print cartridges, so I’m not looking forward to the first time it runs out of ink. I wish the documentation had been a little more thorough, but there are online guides and I’ve found a couple of You Tube videos that help with setup and features. The wireless and print direct features seemed fairly intuitive, but I’ve had quite a bit of experience with printers. I could see how a person might struggle with setup if this was his/her first printer ever so those online resources could come in handy. Overall the Epson XP6100 fits my daughter’s needs perfectly. For the price, I’d recommend it. ... show more
