This Epson printer is designed for use with only genuine Epson-brand cartridges. Other brands of ink cartridges and ink supplies are not compatible and, even if described as Compatible, may not function properly or at all. Epson provides information about the design of the printer on the box and in many other locations and materials Included with the printer and on the website. Epson periodically provides firmware updates to address issues of security, performance, minor bug fixes and ensure the printer functions as designed. I'm writing this in case anyone is tempted to buy one of these -- even though it's old it may come up second-hand. From the beginning, I've had to reset my wifi password EVERY SINGLE TIME I TRY TO USE IT. So, I got a USB cable, which at least replaced that headache with a less achey one. A few weeks ago, despite the fact that my black cartridge was about 2/3 full, it wouldn't work and I replaced it since it had been some time since I'd printed anything. I used a full-price, genuine Epson cartridge. Despite this, just three weeks later, it was telling me it had to be replaced because it was empty. I removed it, wiped the head, shook it, replaced it, ran all the maintenance routines over and over. Eventually, I managed to get all but two of the 12 pages printed -- perfect print quality -- then it stopped. I continued to running maintenance routines, and it started telling me, alternately, that the cartridge was empty or that it didn't recognize the cartridge. My blood pressure was through the roof, so I finally gave up and went to the library to pay for printing it. If you're ever tempted to but this, even it it seems like a deal, DON'T DO IT, unless you really love punishment. ... show more

Never been a huge fan of Ink Jet printers but this one has exceded my expetations. THe small size works well in my work area and the printing of black and white pages is reasonably fast. The color print is nice thought a full page color picture on normal paper is not great at all. The scanner is fast and clear and creates nice docs and pictures. The copy feature is a little bit slow with the printing but again acceptable for a The on board functions are for the most part easy to use once you get the hang of it. I did love the ease of use of installing and connecting the printer wirelessly. IT was MUCH better than the Pantum p2502w I had bought last year. Overall I am very happy with this printer and would say its a great vauel for the price. ... show more

Only been using a short time but so far very happy with low cost printer. Small footprint needed to fit custom built computer cabinet. Prints fast compared to old HP Ink Jet. Don't like having to buy color cartridges to print in black but print almost exclusively in black so conserving color ink. Like flat bed copy vs. sheet fed for thicker items. Using in wireless mode; not sure if you can cable it up to some computers and use in wireless mode with others but so far wireless has worked just fine. Highly recommend for low cost printer especially vs. HP junk. ... show more

When I bought this printer five years ago, it cost me$57.00 with tax. But the price of printers has probably gone up 300% since then. The cheapest printers you will find are around $79 to $89 dollars. T This printer works well for what I use it for. I don't print a super amount, and I will say it uses ink often. But as far as running the cleaner, that depends on how long it's been since something was last printed. The last time I ran the cleaner, it only took one time. The ink and the cleaning is a hassle, but the trade off is, it prints fairly well, and the ink is easy to change. I would not buy a new model in this series, because I think the prices are too high. One thing I will mention, you can still get updates for this printer, but the scanner software is outdated for this particular model, so I can't scan. I won't buy another printer until this one dies, simply because they're just too expensive. ... show more

I purchased this printer for a small-footprint, occasional use color printer. It served this use well... for about two uses. It was easy enough to set up, printed clear, colorful pictures, and was exactly what I needed - except that I needed a printer that you can not-use for a while and then boot up again when needed. This one started showing bad trouble with keeping the printheads clear after the third use, but I could usually get it to work after some fiddling and using the maintenance settings. Now only its scanner is any use to me; the printer is totally worthless, the print heads will no longer clear at all, and so nothing really prints from it at all - it just runs paper through and makes it look dirty. I can only assume the product would be as good as it was at first if you used it frequently - and if you wanted to use a printer that frequently, I'd probably recommend paying the extra money to get a better one. ... show more
