  • Lots of positives to report
I unpackaged the printer and within half an hour had it inked up and running on three separate computers. So far I have been well pleased with the performance and print quality. It even responds quicker than my HP printers that this one replaces. In fact, the HP technician I spoke with on the phone recommended both Epson and Brother for reliability, over the HP models in the same size and usage niche. I have not yet tried scanning with it, but have only sent documents from my computer and tablet. But on the basis of what I've seen so far this has been a very good purchase. ... show more

  • Bad experience!
NO STARS. (Review could not be submitted without clicking on a star.). If I knew a month ago what I know now, I would not have purchased this printer. It arrived. After 4 days of trying to set it up, and numerous phone calls with Epson, Epson said it had a hardware error and return it to it, not to the seller. I then received a USED printer! I returned it and got yet a 3rd printer. I hope its new, but I can’t tell. Again, numerous attempts to set it up and numerous phone calls with Epson. Some of its agents are knowledgeable; others not and give wrong info (tho they were all courteous). The printer during setup DID NOT behave as stated in the VERY FEW printed instructions, again necessitating numerous phone calls. Lots of calls get disconnected mid-way, and, it appears, especially when you land a rep who knows what she/he is doing! The printer DOES NOT COME WITH THE NECESSARY CABLE TO ATTACH IT TO COMPUTER! I tried two different USB cables which I had and neither worked. Agent then told me to get what turned out to be wrong USB cable. Another agent finally gave me the right info. This of necessity involved in driving 1/2 hour each way to the local Staples, and spending another $15 (amount not really relevant), for a cable THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED WITH THE PRINTER. Rep said It has to be purchased separately, not something that is revealed unless you ask! Further, printer does not work with all software, something not mentioned. Rep gave me WRONG LINK to download necessary software, resulting in error message that printer could not be used with my Mac. Another rep finally gave me correct link. After numerous attempts to print out good copies, told NOT TO TURN OFF PRINTER WHEN NOT IN USE, AS PRINTER HEADS WILL CLOG, RESULTING IN NEEDING 3 HEAD CLEANINGS, A WASTE OF TIME, INK, AND PAPER! Not good when your area has a history of dozens of blackouts per year! An additional insult: Epson support only operates on Pacific work hours time. NO 24/7 support, as it appears (at least from my experience) is badly needed. Printers do stop working during nighttime hours and on weekends. Would be nice to have support when that happens! Oh - just remembered - during 1 call, rep couldn’t help and gave me phone number for priority access. Tried a number of times to get through. it had a busy signal for 1/2 hour. Finally called support again and got knowledgeable rep. Second time I was told I needed to call priority I mentioned the 1st time. Apparently, it was NOT news to them, cuz rep IMMEDIATELY gave me a 2nd priority access number! (haven’t called it, so can’t report on it.). JUST OVER 1 MONTH TO GET PRINTER WORKING (so far). BE ADVISED! ... show more

  • Nice printer
Very nice printer with very large ink bottles that are pretty easy to install. My only regret is that the printer does not print double-sided copies.

  • Disappointed
I have always had (and loved) HP printers, but their customer service made me angry so I switched brands. After a lot of research, I chose this Epson. I've been using it for several weeks and am disappointed with it. I should note that my eyesight is not good and that is causing major frustration with this printer. The output is very faint and hard for me to read - even on the high quality setting. The touchscreen on the front is impossible to see unless I get directly in front of it and put my nose right up to the printer and squint. Both printing and scanning are slow. It seems to take a long time to "think" about what it is going to print. Once that part is finished, the papers come out relatively fast. I found it difficult to set up. It wanted me to set it up via my cell phone, which I dutifully did as I was following the instructions step - by - step, but then I still had to set it up on the computer. It is unlikely that I will ever print from my phone. The more technology "improves", the less I like it. I had an HP printer that lasted nearly 20 years with very heavy use. Sadly, they don't make 'em like that any more. ... show more

  • The seller (thehappystore) may have already registered the printer serial # for the warranty
The printer came quickly, and looks great. Unfortunately, when I went to the Epson website to register the 2-year warranty, it said the serial number was already registered and had only 10 months left on the warranty. I called Epson, and they made a note of it and told me to retain my receipt, but I wonder how the printer serial number (printed on the outside of the printer box) was already registered. The box was unopened and the printer was in its original packing material, but I wonder about the seller (thehappystore) and why it apparently had already been registered... ... show more

  • A very disappointingly poor Epson product
I have owned and used professional-quality Epson color printers and scanners for decades, with consistently spectacular results for photographic prints. I recently purchased this lower-end, compact, combination printer, scanner, and copier for intermittent home office use, fully understanding that its quality would not be comparable to my other Epson devices. Even so, results have been disappointing. On the plus side, this is a compact, impressively designed, all-in-one device with a small footprint. Operational noise level is acceptably low. The ink cartridge system has been replaced by a much improved refillable ink tank system. On the negative side, the external box in which it was shipped was not taped closed. It lacks a printed instruction manual. Online guidance is minimal. My 4 separate calls to Epson technical support were each responded to in less than 2 minutes by friendly staff obviously eager to help. However, it quickly became apparent that they were all reading from standardized scripts from which they could not deviate, and ultimately they were only minimally helpful. The structural integrity of the device appears to be cheap and shoddy. Wireless connection is unreliable even with a very strong signal. (A hard connection via a USB cord works flawlessly.) The illuminated work panel is tiny (2 inches wide by 1.5 inches high) and lacks a touch screen.. Text is 1/16 inch high and very difficult to read. Nearby push-button controls are not well-labeled or intuitive. All mechanical operations are noticeably slow. Print quality from direct computer input is sharp but a bit light. Scan quality lacks adequate sharpness and is noticeably lighter than that from direct computer input, but is still moderately acceptable. Scans are of fairly unacceptable quality lightness and prints from scans are of still lesser quality and lightness and are close to unusable. General operational speed is fairly slow. Ultimately, from reading online reviews of other similarly equipped and priced lower-end, compact, combination printer, scanner, and copier devices, I expect that this device unfortunately is neither significantly better nor significantly worse than its competitors and that this market niche in general is fairly crappy. ... show more
