Description

Your family needs a printer that’s fast, affordable, and easy to use. That’s why we developed the EcoTank ET-2800 – an innovative cartridge-free solution that uses high-capacity, easily refillable ink tanks. So you’ll worry less about running out of ink, and save a lot on replacement ink (1). The ET-2800 features genuine Epson print quality, a high-resolution flatbed scanner, and convenient color display – making it the ideal basic home printer. Epson strongly recommends the use of genuine ink to ensure optimal print quality and performance. Use of non-genuine ink could cause damage not covered under the printer’s ltd. wnty. | 1. Actual savings and costs will vary considerably based on print tasks, print volumes and usage conditions. Savings and cost per ISO page are based on the cost of replacement ink bottles and the cost of enough standard cartridges to achieve the total page yields of the bottles using the MSRP (USD) and yields for Epson standard-capacity ink cartridges for similarly featured Epson consumer inkjet printers as of March 2024. | 2. Individual cartridges estimate based on print yields of an included or replacement set of black and color ink bottles as compared to Epson standard- capacity ink cartridges for similarly featured printers as of March 2024. | 3. Part of the ink from the included bottles is used for initial setup; yields are lower than those of replacement ink bottles. Replacement and included ink bottle yields based on the ISO/IEC 24712 pattern with Epson’s methodology. Actual ink yields will vary considerably for reasons including images printed, print settings, temperature and humidity. Yields may be lower when printing infrequently or predominantly with one ink color. All ink colors are used for printing and printer maintenance, and all colors must be available for printing. For more information, visit | 4. Based on average monthly document print volumes of about 125 pages. | 5. See for device compatibility. Epson Connect™ account and voice-activated account registration required. | 6. Most features require an Internet connection to the printer, as well as an Internet- and/or email- enabled device. For a list of Epson Connect enabled printers and compatible devices and apps, visit | 7. Requires Epson Smart Panel app download. Data usage fees may apply.

🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The Epson EcoTank ET-2800 printer garners mixed reviews, but positive feedback tends to highlight its superior ability to handle heavy card stock, robust ink storage system, quality print output, and wireless functionality. Detractors often spotlight its complex setup process, relatively low printing speed, bulky size, and power consumption.

Pros

  • 🖨️ Handles heavyweight card stock with ease
  • 🎨 Provides a cost-effective ink solution with long-lasting in-built tanks
  • 🌐 Includes wireless functionality, enabling easy device synchronization
  • 🚀 Delivers quality text and color prints suitable for home use

Cons

  • ⛔ Users report the setup process can be convoluted and frustrating
  • 🐌 The printing speed may be insufficient for those needing to print large documents frequently
  • 🔍 Takes up a considerable amount of desk space due to its bulkiness
  • 💡 More power consuming than some users would like

Should I Buy It?

If you're looking for a printer for basic home use focusing on quality and cost-effectiveness, specifically for printing on heavier card stock, the Epson EcoTank ET-2800 is a solid choice. Nonetheless, if you value speed, a quiet operation, and modern aesthetics or have limited space, exploring other options might be beneficial.

This was by far the easiest printer to set up and connect to mobile phone, Kindle Fire Max 11 and a Windows 11 laptop. The screen on the printer is tiny however it is still easy to read and maneuver. The Epson app has the same functions. The app is simple and straight forward. I just power the printer on. Launch the app. Make my selection and adjustments and it prints wirelessly from my phone and Kindle fire. Standard quantity prints fast in color and came out like high quality only dreamed of being on the HP Envy this Epson replaced. Photos printed on premium gloss 4x6 paper looks as if they came from a film camera print service. The ink was easy to fill. Doesn't seem to be using too much and replacing a single color with the Epson brand ink is half the price of the HP cartridge. Plus Epson doesn't want to track how many pages and what we print each month or push for any subscription service. Best printer I have ever owned. ... show more

  • So far, so good
Color: Black
I purchased the ET-2800 as a replacement for my aging Epson Artisan 837 printer. Both printers are ink-based and print black & white and color. (However, the 837 also has an Automatic Document Feeder and fax capability, whereas the ET-2800 does not. Since I rarely, if ever, use those features, this was not an issue. Note: Epson also sells the ET-4800 printer for slightly more which has ADF and Fax capability.) 1. The ET-2800 has a much smaller footprint than the 837, so it doesn’t take up as much real estate on the desktop. 2. The ET-2800 is feather-light compared with the 837, which is built like a tank and weighs 40-50 lbs. Hence, the ET-2800 is much easier to move and position. 3. Print-quality is excellent. However, I’ve not done much printing, yet, printing only the obligatory test pages during setup. 4. Installation was very straightforward. Everything went as-advertised, with no hiccups or unpleasant “surprises”. 5. Mac compatibility was a major consideration, as I have a Mac running the latest MacOS Sonoma 14.6.1. Epson fully supports the ET-2800 for the Mac. 6. At the end of installation, you need to download and install the latest drivers from Epson’s website. I downloaded the bundle (recommended), which includes drivers for print and scan, as well as utilities for things like photo printing and scanning. Once installed, the ET-2800 is integrated into and supported by the Mac. 7. The ET-2800 is an Eco-Tank printer; it uses bottled ink instead of the conventional ink cartridges. This was my first experience with this type of printer, and I really like it. Loading the ink into each of the 4 tanks (black, yellow, magenta, and cyan) was fast and easy. There’s no mess or chance of getting ink on yourself or the printer, which can sometimes happen with traditional cartridge ink. They say the bottled ink lasts a lot longer than cartridges; refill ink is sold separately. 8. The control panel is one area that could stand improvement. It’s on the small side, with buttons whose symbols are unconventional and in some cases, non-intuitive. Epson needs to rethink their control panel design. 9. Possibly the worst feature is the display - it’s very small, measuring about 1-1/4 inches square. It’s small size makes it hard to read, and forces unnecessary abbreviation of messages (simply because there isn’t enough room to display a longer, more meaningful message). I feel this one area where Epson went the “cheap” route, and it shows. They would do well to spend a little more money on a larger display. 10. Entering the WiFi password during WiFi setup is… well, painful. Again, the display is very small, and you have to cursor around, shifting the input from lower to upper case, and letters to symbols and numbers. It takes a long time to enter a reasonable password, and is highly prone to error. Fortunately, this is the only alpha-numeric input you have to deal with. 11. It is somewhat 'noisy' (I think) compared with other printers, and might not be the best choice if a 'quiet' office environment is important. 🙂 All in all, I like this printer, and would buy it again. ... show more

  • Great Print Quality; Not For Users With Unstable WIFI
Color: Black
I will start by saying this: the printer is amazing for the price point. You will get high quality prints- especially if you spend a little extra to get decent printer paper. The set up is relatively easy and they’ll walk you through every step. The app is extremely useful, especially for school (which is what I use this printer for). The printer email feature is a bit of a hit or miss though. Otherwise, it does exactly what it needs to and it does it well. Things to keep in mind: it does specify that there ISN’T a double sided printing feature but there’s a work around so if you don’t mind manual double sided printing, this shouldn’t be a problem. If you don’t have a stable WiFi connection or a WiFi extender, I do not recommend buying this product. This printer can be very temperamental if it’s not close to your router. I’ve had several experiences of having to restore network settings to try to reconnect and print. Meaning a 2 minutes process turned into 30. This is obviously very frustrating when you’re just trying to get some ink on paper in a timely manner. Once I moved my WiFi extender, these issues seemed to disappear almost instantly. Honestly it’s common sense that a printer isn’t necessarily high on the WiFi priority list, but the fact the printer doesn’t come with a USB cord to connect it directly to your computer makes this a negative feature. TLDR; this printer is great! Not perfect but works well given it’s relatively cheap. If you have bad WiFi don’t buy. ... show more
