  • Needs some small tweaking.
Sound quality is great for a USB mic, however it picks up a LOT of noise. You can use reaplugs reafir to get rid of all of the noise present in it. However this won't work with the gain slider sadly. USB-C can get in the way a bit sadly. Just don't use the wire passthrough under the stand. Just let it hang below the mic and route the wiring for best freedom. ... show more

  • Poor Programming
The quality is good, but when you plug it in and download the software you go through so many issues. Missing files, Program won’t open etc. For the money you spend on it I’d rather have a razor mini

  • Excellent
I've recently been playing around with a Blue Yeti X World of Warcraft mic, with a weird and wonderful design and a ton of voice effects, but as I'm not much of a gamer and I'm far too old and boring for voice effect tomfoolery it was nice to open the box of the EPOS B20 and find a sober, pared down professional looking microphone that can appeal to adults. I'm a big fan of EPOS. I use the EPOS Sennheiser GSX300 sound card daily, and I really like the simple but elegant design of their devices. There are no needless bells and whistles added to these things. They're just sleek and clean looking. I approve. I've only been playing with the mic for a day or two but so far I love the performance, and I especially love that the B20 is now compatible with the EPOS software suite, allowing me to use the excellent graphic equaliser included in the software. The only thing I don't love about this mic is the same thing I dislike about my GSX300 sound card. EPOS have a habit of making their volume dials featureless and infinitely turning. It's a valid choice, sure, but personally I prefer to feel that physical stop when you hit zero and 100% volume, and I like a marker on the volume knob itself. It's just a minor gripe, but it's one of those design quirks that gets on my nerves. All in all, though, this is an extremely well put together microphone. It feels high end, which I'd expect and demand at this price point. The stand is solid and well balanced, and if you want to mount it on a boom it's easily done. This is a solid mid range option for professionals and an excellent option for gamers. ... show more

  • Expensive Blue Yeti-like Performance
Let me start by saying that I'd love this mic if money was not an issue. But the reality is, people care about value. I always try to get the best bang for my buck. Here is a comparison with my current Blue Yeti mic that I purchased for $70 four years ago on sale. The microphone performs very well. It is crispy and clear, like an ASMR or radio level quality. I've used it for a few weeks now and it is exactly the same as the Blue Yeti mic in terms of sound quality. I've used it on many programs and games like Discord, Skype, Fortnite, Overwatch, etc. My friends cannot tell the difference between this mic and the Blue Yeti. It also has the same exact functions as the Blue Yeti. It has a mute, volume, gain, and pattern setting. This mic has a few things that the Blue Yeti does not have. It is USB C. My Blue Yeti is a micro-usb. It has software that supposedly will allow control of the mic. I say supposedly because the software will not work on my computer. it won't detect my microphone despite it working fine. I've tried reinstalling the software and removing drivers, nothing has worked so I'm using this without the software. Therefore, it's as if there was no software for me. Another thing I dislike is that the mic stand hole is smaller than the standard mic boom arm that holds my Blue Yeti. This means it needs an adapter to fit on most boom arms. And if you're using this for streaming or gaming, you really should be using a boom arm. Using the default mic stand will mean it is too far from your face and your voice won't sound as crisp. Also keeping it so close to the desk will mean the mic may pick up any desk vibrations from your mouse or keyboard. The looks on this mic are far superior to the Blue Yeti. It looks much more modern, sleek, and has a lower profile design. However, the software does not work for me and the performance is similar to the Blue Yeti, but costs double. The mic stand hole also requires an adapter to fit on my boom arm. With all of these issues for a similar performance to Blue Yeti, I don't think the premium price is justified. If you want the best bang for your buck, the Blue Yeti is still the leader. This mic is not bad by any means, it's just not twice as good as the Yeti. ... show more

  • Good, but the price is going to be an issue for some
Pros: - Mic and stand are classy and will fit with just about any environment - Quality packaging and presentation - Generous cord length - Plug-and-play (works with Linux) - 4 pickup modes (Stereo, front-and-back, omni-directional and cardioid) - Pickup modes are selectable with a physical switch - Gain control dial on the mic - USB-C - Simple, well designed instructions - Arm uses standard 3/8" screw so it can easily be mounted on standard articulating arm. - Didn't waste time and materials putting RGB LEDs onto the device Cons: - The arm cannot be removed from the body of the mic - The EPOS gaming software is only available for Windows Sound quality: This mic definitely offers better quality than the other $40 and below USB microphones I've tested, but it's basically on par with cheaper options like Blue Yeti X. Whether this is worth the $200 asking price to you is going to be down to the options and features as I'm convinced sound quality is not a differentiator. Bottom line: The other USB mics in this range don't use a physical switch to control pickup modes. I personally despise multi-function buttons - I would rather have a separate switch or dial for each individual function to avoid the need to memorize some convoluted scheme of taps and holds. Beyond that preference though is the fact that these premium USB mics all have software suites that are limited by the OS you're using them with. The more functions directly accessible on the mic, the less it matters what you're using it with whether it's a Playstation, Linux machine, Android device etc... If you only need a mic to use with Windows then this may feel like less of an advantage to you. ... show more
