  • The controller works great. The manual is challenging and tech support is awesome!
Size: 4210AN
I bought the 4210AN for my camper solar and it works great. However, I needed to change the settings to Lifepo4 and the manual appears to give conflicting information. I searched the internet and just got more confused. I bought the PC cable and downloaded the software. I couldn't get it to work. In frustration I contacted tech support and they promptly explained what I needed to do and how to do it. Fantastic! Three things to remember: 1. If you have the CC-USB-RS485-150U cable, you need to use the CH343 driver and it will show up as that in the Port Settings in Device Manager.. When you go to set the baud rate to 115000, you will not see a checkbox for "RS485" that the installation instructions say you need to check. The driver for this cable doesn't have the box and doesn't need it. The other (and older) cables use a different driver and *do* need that box checked. 2. When you get the software setup and you are ready to click "Start Monitoring", don't. It probably won't work. After setting up the COM port in the software, you need to restart the program. From there, it works great and you can tailor the configs to your needs. 3. When using only the front panel to select the battery: A. Battery type " USER" is preprogrammed for 12V Lifepo4 and is the same as "F04" (12 4 cells.) B. Battery type "F08" is the standard settings for the 24V Lifepo4 battery (8 cells). Finally, you might want to tweak some of the settings via the software or MT50 but the presets are good starters and likely won't need tweaking if you have a good BMS in the battery. But changing parameters isn't all that hard once you get the cable setup. ... show more

  • I'm glad i purchased this instead of another crappy off-brand Charge controller
Size: 3210AN
Was having trouble with the solar power system on my RV. After trying a couple different cheepo off-brand Solar Charge Controller's I decided to replace it with one of these. I am so glad I did. It is easier to set up properly and seems to work much better.

  • EPEVER 30 Amp Solar Charge Controller: Excellent Quality item, but confusing Product Manual
Size: 3210AN
Seems to be a very well made, and high quality solar charge controller. The only mechanical issue I encountered, was the head size of the terminal screws. They are on the small side. Try #1 Phillips, and don't over torque them; but do check them often to be sure they remain snug. The manual was a bit confusing, for me, but I take responsibility for that due to my experience level. Make sure to read, and understand the manual. What confused me was the charts showing rated charge power. I ordered the 30 Amp model. I have a 12 volt system. The chart shows a rated charge power of 390 watts at 12 volts, with a max pv array power of 580 watts for a 12 volt system. Per their chart, I didn't think it would take 30 Amps, but apparently it will, with the appropriate input voltage from the solar panels, and the voltage accepted by the battery. The day I tested it, we had partial sunlight. My panels are rated at 200 watts, and 17 volts, and about 11.76 Amps. I'm using two of these 200 watt panels (400 watts). When I read the Manual, and it said the rated charge power was 390 watts, I thought I had a possible problem, but the actual test showed the controller handled my setup. EPEVER Manual says the controller will throttle down, if necessary to protect the controller. The day I tested it; the controller showed 20 volts in from the panels, and 15.5 Amps out to the battery, at varying voltage, around 14 volts, on the battery end. I am waiting for a full sunny day to compare this EPEVER 30 Amp MPPT, to my old HQST 30 Amp PWM. I thought I was getting up to 20 Amps out from the older HQST PWM controller. Will need a full sun day, to try them both again, and compare the results. reviewed by allstar - 1-23-2023 ... show more

  • good quality...could be a little better
Size: 4210AN
I think the overall unit is good quality. It has worked well for my simple application. The one improvement I would recommend is a better read out screen.

  • Works Great - If you need a solar controller buy this one.
Size: 6415AN+MT50+TS-R+RS485
Only reason I am giving 4 instead of 5 stars is due to the less than clear instructions. The most difficult aspect of the install was plugging in the battery temperature sensor (darn hard to get at). This controller is a great value, especially considering the remote is included. Granted had to purchase a longer cable so the MT50 could mount over my Magnum's remote. Ditched the MT50 base plate and used a hole saw for a very clean installation. With the remotes side by side I have noted a slight difference in the displayed parameters. With the voltage less than a 1/4 volt off confirmed by my who cares. This controller is a workhorse working over time to keep the state of charge on my 4 6-volt flooded batteries topped off from my 610 watts of panels. Only real con is no easy way to reprogram controller for my planned update to Lithium Ion batteries. EPEVER has several instructional videos on you tube I hope will help with this. Buy one both you and you wallet will like it. Edit: Updated my 4 6-volt FLA batteries with 4 100 Ah Lithium (LFP) batteries. Reprogramming the controller to charge them was easy. So far has been working great the last 3 weeks. ... show more
