  • Cheap But Effective
Handheld Steadycams are very common these days for videographers and traveling YouTube foodies. There's a good reason for this. They're definitely an improvement over ordinary handheld video even with the use of your camera's or len's optical stabilizer. They're also less bulky and more presentable than the traditional Steadycams that require a brace around the operator's mid-section. This, of course, also results in less parts which result in lower manufacturing cost and, ultimately, lower prices. But how can this one be so inexpensive??? Unlike some higher-priced handheld stabilizers, this one does not have any electronics. More elaborate and higher-priced units combine balancing weights with electronics that actively maintain the balance of the camera or camcorder, regardless of the position of your hand. This particular unit relies just on the balancing weights on the bottom. Setting up the unit is tricky but it does work reasonably well, especially given the price. My only reservation is that there should be at least another slot on the top as an added optional position to balance the camera or camcorder. Otherwise, you can do a presentable job shooting video while walking like you normally do. This is handy for POV (point-of-view) shots, when exploring streets, or following someone at a reasonable pace. If you're jogging, you'll have to control your own strides to avoid excessive shaking. For less than $30, it's a very reasonably-priced unit. ... show more

  • I don’t not recommend it
It is almost impossible to adjust, it is not easy to use at all, the quality is regular, in DSLR cameras it does not work well and with mobile phones a DJI is better, which costs only 15 dollars more, I do not recommend it.

  • Can not get it to work with an DSLR camera
The product looked nice, that is the only good thing I can say. Very shiny. But for the job it is supposed to do, I don't think it will work. I could never get it balanced, and I did not feel very comfortable with my camera attached to it. The handle kept slipping (I know that the handle is supposed to move, but when it completely falls over, that is not good). I watched some videos on how to balance it, and it compared shooting videos with and without. I think that without was smoother than within. Also it is rather heavy and I was wanting to video some hikes. I think that even if it did work, the weight of it would be a bit of a problem. But because it was ordered through Prime, I will send it back. I am disappointed, it might work better with a phone or Go Pro camera, but it will not work for me. ... show more

  • Great deal, just need instructions.
I bought this for my gopro and will attach microphone to it as well as possible light feature. Pros: Very sturdy material. There is actual weight to this and once I get used to adjusting the counterweight, I'm sure I will like this more. Cons: No instructions. Need real instructions to be added to this on the proper way to adjust the counterweight. Had to go online on youtube to find a video for something similar. ... show more

I have tried this with 2 video cameras and my canon D70. It works with the video camera's after some serious tweaking. but I could never get it to work with my canon. it would lean to one side or forward. Have not tried to reverse the weights yet. but that's just a pain.

  • Not gonna work for one side heavy cameras. No instructions.
If you have a camera that is one side heavy like my Sony a6000 ( and many others ) this will never balance correctly. Also, I had to find a YouTube video on how to use and correctly put this one together because a lot of it is mainly balancing the camera. I wish they had an instructional sheet or a reference to a video. Returning the product ... show more

  • Really wanted it to work.
I tried. I watched the video on it several times. I was able to level it and worked with it. I put up with all the nuances and minor adjustments to make it work. It's perfect when it was working but I always had to keep an eye on it. It could go wonky on me at any time so it distracted my creativity. I ended up buying an expensive one and threw this one away. Throwing in away made me feel so much better. I felt I was set free. ... show more
