BUY IT! I bought this Eonon 10.1” for my 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 to replace my stock head infotainment center as the HMI froze on it. I’m mechanically inclined to an extent. Not so much with wiring, but I figured I’d give it a shot myself. Unpacking the package was a bit overwhelming as there are quite a few plugs and wires. After getting everything situated and removing the stock unit, the process was pretty much harmless. There are tons of videos on YouTube that shows step by step on how to install this unit. With that being said, the install time took about 2.5-3 hours, just taking my time and tending to other projects my fiancé needed help with while installing it. The system itself is amazing. I absolutely love it! It upgrades the truck to 2026 with the big screen. I watch YouTube, Netflix, and even downloaded the pit boss app and can check out how my meats doing while I’m running errands! I have 2 kicker comp 10’s underneath the backseat in a custom box so the seats still fold down, and I’ll tell you one thing. The sound difference from different head units is absolutely gnarly! I’ve never heard these subs hit so hard! Bonus points for sure! The only hangup I had was the turn signal, headlight alert and the key in ignition chimes and it was hard to find the information about it. I’ll help you out. The little black circle that comes in the package is a speaker. It clips into the green cord that is labeled speaker. I mounted it near the hood release and everything is running perfect! If you’re thinking about buying it, stop thinking and just do it!

So far i absolutely love this unit. It is plug and play, but you have to actually know how to tear apart the dash of your truck to properly route things. The ball of wires it comes with is intimidating until you realize everything is labeled and is marked where it goes and what it does in the manual. My truck is a WT base model so ibwas able to leave alot of it off and the unit works great. Calls are clear, Bluetooth hooks up fast, it connects to and updates using the wifi in my shop. Cant beat this thing especially when most other units like this for these trucks are enormous and cost $1k+.

Install was easy. Still working with Eonon as to why my rear speakers have no sound and the OnStar function doesn't work. Otherwise, this is a quality solution to upgrade your truck. It integrated with the OEM functions quite nicely outside of the 2 issues above. Will add the 5th star when the bugs are ironed out.

Removing the old unit was the hardest part of the install, but the new unit has tons of space when replacing. Watch a couple of YouTube vids to see how it’s done. Once you figure out how to connect your phone, it works reliably and wirelessly without any extra input from you. At $150, this can’t be beat. Just enough technology to keep the e39 current without adding a stupid looking iPad in the car like every car manufacturer is doing. Most functions have buttons, which is very nice. Want to answer a call? Press the accept button. Want to end the call? Press the end button. Forward and reverse buttons for skipping tracks etc. Very nice unit. Make sure to tweak the sound settings in your car. Namely, adjust your low pass filter to 60hz for a noticeable improvement in bass quality.

I've had another Eonon unit in my E39 for a number of years and it was fine. Some minor issues but a huge upgrade over stock. I wanted Apple Carplay and got it for a good price. If you can live with the cons stated below then this is a good buy. I can and would buy again - although SW stability really should be improved. Pros: I wanted Apple Carplay, and it works great when it works. It looks great in the car, fitting in naturally as if the car was born this way. Sound quality is great once you've dialed it in and after an on/off cycle when the equalizer seems to adjust. It integrates with the steering wheel buttons, which is cool. Cons: The unit is buggy. It resets randomly at startup. I've had issues connecting to BT which could be due to WiFi turning off when the device resets. Why do I even need this when I have a wired connection? (because wired only does not seem to work without). When I first installed the unit, my backup camera (cheap no name) didn't work, even though it worked perfectly with my old Eonon unit. Then after a few resets, all of a sudden it started working. Sound quality is generally great as mentioned above, but touching the equalizer can throw the sound off completely, so on-off cycle and it may fix itself. That was also the case with my original Eonon unit.

I was apprehensive at first between this and what most M5 forums suggest, a Dynavin, but for something at half the cost of the Dynavin, thought I’d give it a shot and I’ve been pleasantly surprised. Wireless CarPlay, speedy UI, better sound than stock and looks factory with no odd branding/logos on it, this was well worth the price. If you have an e39 M5, you may have to buy the eonon cable extension that allows you to connect this head unit to the stereo brain in the trunk. It took me a couple hrs to install, not because of the head unit, but because I wanted to hide the extension cable which required removal of the rear seat, some lower plastic moldings near the floor and the lower dash below the steering wheel. In the end, absolutely a bargain price for a great product that further increased the convenience in my 24 year old car :)

Super good head unit and fit perfectly with my bmw e39. Really likes the user interface, wasn’t too hard to use or anything like that. My phone is a little old so sometimes connectivity can be spotty but works really well overall. I will say that because of the unit having only 2gb for ram, it can stutter sometimes or lag. But it’s good for the most part
